New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Resigns

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, once a potential Presidential candidate, has announced he will resign his office effective in two weeks, after a bombshell report revealed he created a toxic workplace and sexually harassed and groped female staffers.

In a press conference the governor said, "New York tough means New York loving, and I love New York and I love you," Cuomo said, "I would never want to be unhelpful in any way, and I think given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let government get back to governing, and therefore, that's what I'll do," Foxnews.com reported.

Following the release of the explosive 165-page report, the governor alleged bias in investigating, the inherently credible allegation which spanned from 2013 – 2021.

The independent investigation, made up of attorneys from the law firms of Vladeck, Raskin & Clark, P.C., and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, called 179 witnesses, which after six months

The allegations which surfaced in late February 2021 and begin with an inquiry into the underreporting of nursing home deaths due to the Coronavirus, which began a snowball effect into the manner in which the governor controlled his office. The governor had taken the national lead with his daily Coronavirus briefs which won him an Emmy.

New York First Female Governor

With the resignation of the governor imminent, New York Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul will become the first female governor of New York State.

"I agree with Governor Cuomo's decision to step down. It is the right thing to do and in the best interest of New Yorkers," Hochul tweeted Tuesday afternoon shortly after Cuomo's announcement. "As someone who has served at all levels of government and is next in the line of succession, I am prepared to lead as New York State's 57th Governor," reported CNN.com.

Pulling Back the Veil

Prior to his election to Governor in 2011, Cuomo served one term as the state's Attorney General.

With the pervasiveness and longevity of his behavior, and two others who held the office of New York State Attorney General, there is a real possibility that allegations made by complainants alleging sexual harassment and other egregious violations by New York power brokers to the Attorney General's office under Andrew Cuomo, Eliot Spitzer and Eric Schneiderman, went uninvestigated based on bias determined by their own sexual proclivities and the preconceived beliefs which place certain individuals above the law.

Cuomo is not the first politician to resign amidst allegation of sexual misconduct. In 1993 Chief Justice of The New Your State Supreme Court Sol Wachlter, in a shocking fall from the pinnacle, was arrested and convicted of acts against his former mistress and her daughter. He served 13months in prison.

Former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, who served two terms as the state's Attorney General, had been elected governor by a whooping 76% of the vote, only to be forced to resign after his financial dealings with high-priced call girls in Washington, DC came to light.

Andrew Cuomo followed Spitzer serving one term as New York Attorney General and then was elected to New York State Governor. He is resigning August 24, 2021, over allegations which were deemed truthful by an independent investigatory panel, of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and toxic workplace.

Eric Schneiderman, served as New York Attorney General following Andrew Cuomo's election to New York State Governor and was forced to resign after The New Yorker published an article detailing sexual and physical abuse, bullying and retaliation.

At the time Cuomo said, "The New Yorker has published an article on Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, which reports multiple women making serious allegations of assault. No one is above the law including New York's top legal officer. I will be asking an appropriate New York District Attorney to commence an immediate investigation. And proceed as the facts merit. My personal opinion is that, given the damning pattern of facts and corroboration laid out in the article, I do not believe it is possible for Eric Schneiderman to continue to serve as Attorney General, and for the good of the office he should resign," Haute-Lifestyle.com reported.

Former U.S. House of Representative Anthony Weiner, who served from seven terms in the house, was arrested and charged with "sextexting" and sending obscene material to a minor. He received 21 months in prison and was forced to permanently register as a sex offender.

Wall Street Law Firm Remains Uninvestigated

The Wall Street Law Firm, with office around the world, has remained untouched by the allegations of rape, sexual violence, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and retaliation. The allegations made by a former employee, in part, have been substantiated through irrefutable documentation, which are often considered "sources" by media.

The recent actions by AG James' office may hopefully encourage additional investigations into others who hold positions of power and for those within the law firm guilty of rape and sexual assault and conspiracy to commit murder, and retaliation, as well as the bullying, sexual harassment, violations of employment law and other provable crimes, justice may finally be served.
