Biden Address U.N. General Assembly

President Biden opened the 77th Meeting of the United Nations General assembly stating, "our world has experienced great upheaval: a growing crisis in food insecurity; record heat, floods, and droughts; COVID-19; inflation; and a brutal, needless war — a war chosen by one man, to be very blunt."

Addressing the 193 nation delegations, Biden explained Putin's actions were clear violations of the United Nation charter, and while he did not go as far as expressing the belief that as a permanent member Russia should be suspended over the current war, it was clear the actions of Putin, in his continued effort to violate the territorial sovereignty of the Ukraine needed to have stronger global consequences.

Putin, facing global humiliation over a lost war and continued losses on the battlefield, and more importantly Russia once considered a superpower, has proven it is not battle ready, which weakens it power and reputation globally.

While the war parades show a former strength of weaponry and military might, the clear facts that have been revealed over the last six months is that Putin's military exhibits two polar points, an incapacity and failure to achieve strategic objectives or heinous, violence and mass murder, rape, reminiscent of Slobodan Milošević, who died while on trial for war crimes.

"On September 1, … President Putin called for the entirety of Donetsk province to be under Russian controlled by September 15," the official said. "But Putin's forces clearly have failed to deliver," a Department of Defense official said

Denounces Russia Leader

Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose nation has remained suspended from the G7 Summit Meetings for eight years over the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, is bringing the entirety of the United Nations charter under closer scrutiny as the idea of suspending the nation who continues to egregiously violate the character has been floating through the general assembly.

The United Nations hold immense power and ultimately has the power to further ostracize Russia through suspension. While unusual and unprecedented the idea of suspending Putin and Russia, who has faced down global ramification of his actions from 2014, it is possible as the original language of the UN charter illuminates, "it was the Soviet Union, in discussion and negotiation over what would become the U.N. Charter, that first "insisted" on a mechanism for expelling members, arguing it was "measure," explained lawfareblog.com.

There are additional steps before the disciplinary measure can be presented, and as Article 6 of the United Nations charter states, "A Member of the United Nations which has persistently violated the Principles contained in the present Charter may be expelled from the Organization by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council."

It would need to be agreed upon that Russia has persistently violated the principles and voted on by the Security Council before a vote could go to the General Assembly. Is it possible to further ostracize Putin through UN suspension, yes, it is possible.

Did President Biden allude to this action during his address to the United Nations General Assembly? With these words, "Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations Charter — no more important than the clear prohibition against countries taking the territory of their neighbor by force," it seems likely.

Russia Faltering, Advances Tactics, Calls up Reservists

Russian President Vladimir Putin is losing support from even his staunchest ally, President Xi-Jinping of China. In a recent meeting between the two leaders, "Putin on Thursday praised China's "balanced position" on the Ukraine war, though he conceded Beijing had "questions and concerns" over the invasion, in what appeared to be a veiled admission of their diverging views over the protracted military assault," CNN reported.

Putin has also called up 300,000 reservists as his efforts to control neighboring Ukraine has largely failed resulted in mass casualty on both sides. He has continued to use the threat of nuclear war in his determined effort to retake the region once a part of the Soviet Union. His hatred of the people of Ukraine is reminiscent of other neighboring countries with deep seeded animosities and hostilities.

Putin appears to be taking his war global, at least in words. During an address to the nation, Putin explained his reasoning for calling up the reservist as an action necessary to "needed to win a war against not only Ukraine but also its Western backers," Reuters said.

Forces Elections on Occupied Regions

As word from the Kremlin announced they would be initiating referendums to civilians in occupied regions of the Ukraine, to vote on succession, a move Putin used after he violated the territorial annexed the Crimean Peninsula and declared victory.

The Crimean Peninsula while, in actuality, still a part of the nation of Ukraine, has been under Russia rule since 2014, when Russia invaded the region, took control and then forced Ukraine citizens to vote in favor of Russian rule and leadership.

"A Kremlin-orchestrated referendum got underway Friday in occupied regions of Ukraine that sought to make them part of Russia, with some officials carrying ballots to apartment blocks accompanied by gun-toting police. Kyiv and the West condemned it as a rigged election whose result was preordained by Moscow," APnews.com reported.

At this point, the world understands this in another sham election orchestrated by the Kremlin, while denouncing Ukraine right to exist.

Even with the election Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has only two options allow Russia to take control of these regions or utilize stronger military support and fight to regain control of these regions, while Russian forces move into lesser protected regions.

Moscow will announce on Tuesday, after the election results have been tabulated, that it is the will of the people of the Ukraine to succeed and become part of the Russian nation. Once these elections are completed the Ukraine men will be drafted and forced to fight in Putin's army against their own countrymen.

It is this same tactic that Putin initiated, a child's game of divide and conquer, of which the people of the Ukraine have no choice but to suffer under.

Puerto Rico Pummeled by Hurricane Fiona

Hurricane Fiona slammed into the Puerto Rico, this week before moving up the Atlantic, far enough out to sea to only generate high surf warnings for the millions of residents living along the eastern seaboard.

Puerto Rico was not spared the brunt as the category 4 hurricane, the first major storm of the season, pummeled the island leaving its 3.2million residents without power, and other necessities, as the storm flooded streets, destroyed crops, downed trees, and devastated the region.

Just five years after Hurricane Maria obliterated most of the Caribbean Islands, and assistance was sparse and slow to arrive, "President Biden assured Gov. Pedro R. Pierluisi on Monday that the number of federal support personnel in Puerto Rico would "increase substantially" beyond the 300 rescue workers who are currently on the ground helping the island recover from Hurricane Fiona," reported The New York Times.

After a slow start to the Atlantic Hurricane season, the storm season has made up for the early lull with a secession of storms developing in the tropical Atlantic region.

Following quickly on the path of Hurricane Fiona is Hurricane Ian, which, according to cone model projections, is expected to veer to the right slamming into Florida's gulf and panhandle coastline with sustained winds of 110mph, which is the highest level of a category 2 hurricane, according to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane wind scale.

Florida's 21 million residents are being told to activate a 72 hour plan, making sure they have enough supplies to last for up to 72 hours, before assistance can arrive.

Thomas Lane, George Floyd Cop, Sentenced

Thomas Lane, one of the four cops involved in the murder of George Floyd, a career criminal who had been held down by subdued with a knee to the neck method, was sentenced this week for his part in what become a national rallying cry behind the Black Lives Matter movement.

Lane, who had been on the job four days, followed orders of former Minnesota police officer, Derek Chauvin, his direct superior, and restrained Floyd by holding down his legs. Lane also rode with Floyd and performed life-saving measures.

His sentencing has often been criticized as being extreme for his limited time of duty as an active Minnesota police officer.

Actress Louise Fletcher Dies

Actress Louise Fletcher, best known for her role as Nurse Ratched, in the award winning 1975 winning film "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest," died this week. She was 88.

Fletcher, who made history not only for her Academy Award win, but also during her acceptance speech she used American Sign Language so that her parents, both of whom are deaf, could be a part of this monumental achievement.

Her iconic performance, also received an BAFTA and Golden Globe, has been honored, throughout the 47 years since its release, with accolades and her portrayal of the strict, by-the-book, controlling head nurse in a mental hospital overrun with charming loonies, was enough to send chills down your spine.

"The American Film Institute later named Nurse Ratched one of the most memorable villains in film history and the second most notable female villain, surpassed only by the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz," reported The New York Times.

Fletcher's career spanned seven decades and continued to work in film and television. In addition to being named the second most memorable villain in film history, she also carried the Oscar curse, an industry folktale that winning the Academy Award does not always lead to sustain stardom.

She died in Montdurausse, in Southern France. She was 88.
