Dates of the 44th Moscow International Film Festival Announced

The dates of the 44th Moscow International Film Festival have been announced - it will be held in 2022 from 21 to 28 April. Acceptance of applications for participation in competitive programs starts from December 13, 2021.

Pyotr Shepotinnik, a member of the festival's selection committee, film critic and documentary filmmaker, has been appointed program director of the Moscow International Film Festival.

“It is still too early to guess what the upcoming festival will be like, any news bulletin can disprove any tempting plans. And there are a lot of these plans, - Petr Shepotinnik noted. “Any film festival is like a film, and the more risky and unexpected for the viewer and journalists the labyrinths of its plots will be, the greater is its gain”.

Petr Shepotinnik has been working at the Moscow International Film Festival since 1999. His author's program "Eight and a Half Films", which debuted 21 years ago, laid the conceptual foundations of cinematography curating, at different times the Dardenne brothers, Shmuel Maoz, Istvan Szabo, Albert Serra, Philip Gröning, Amos Kollek, Harvey Keitel, Nuri Bilge became its participants Ceylan and many others.
