President Trump has pledged to send humanitarian aid to devasted region of Nepal, after the side of a glacier dislodged from the mountain and sent a tsunami of water roaring through the valley below wiping out entire villages.
The President's job approval rating, according to The New York Times for the period ending August 30, 2026, of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President increased by 1% to 38% and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as president decreased by 1% to 58%. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Nepal Disaster Buries Entire Villages
The shocking catastrophic devastation caused from Wednesday's collapse of glacial ice sheet, generated such magnitude it registered as a 5.2 seismic event, producing as much force as 950 tons of TNT.
The event, which began as an avalanche, was captured on video and verified by The New York Times, created billowing clouds upon impact. The separating glacier sheet, which was about 2000 feet wide carried nearly 100 million tons of rock and ice, plunged 7000 feet down the side of Langtang Lirung peak in the Himalayan mountains.
The sheer weight of the ice sheet caused an ever greater forced to be expended on impact. The initial effect created a lake at the base of the mountain, which means the force of the falling ice create excavated the earth and filled the newly formed hole with water.
The overflow continued on its cataclysmic path down through the valley creating a wide roaring river of mud, debris, and rock, as the water devoured and demolished everything in its path. Without a river's depth, the water continued to climb higher, slamming into homes, sheering off steel bridges, uprooting trees, and washing away cars effortlessly.
As the water traveled through the valley, it pooled creating another natural formed lake, and as it continued to be force fed by the volume of ice and rock, it also overflowed, which created an unprecedented raging flash flood, of which only limited warnings, mostly screams from families who were able to make it to higher ground.

Trump Pledges Aid
"Trump made the offer on Thursday while speaking to reporters at the White House, describing the disaster as "terrible", according to Firstpost. He said the United States had contacted Nepal and offered assistance. "We're sending aid," Trump said, adding that Washington had spoken to Nepal's leadership and told it the United States would provide whatever help was needed. "We let them know anything they want, we'll have," he said," The Katmandu Post reported.
Human Toll
Unlike a tsunami, the wall of water that swept through the Nepalese countryside was fast moving, a rushing fury of increasing energy, that had no boundaries and nothing to stop its gorging death march.
This region, along the Nepal-Tibetan border, is frequented by tourists from all nationalities. The tragedy, which occurred at 8:37 AM local time, showed no mercy and provided little, if any, warning.
"They all died, and I lived," said Dawa Lama, 45, starting to weep as he recounted how, just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, he had heard a thunderclap, and then felt a breeze. Before he knew it, an enormous wave of muddy water had slammed into his home of 12 years in the border village of Timure, carrying away not just his belongings but also his wife and their two daughters, 7 and 8," The New York Times reported.
As media has descended on the region, the tragedy is becoming more fully known, and like the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and subsequent tsunami, the death toll has continued to climb, after initial reports.
At the time of the collapse, multiple American tour groups were in the region visiting Mount Kailash, a holy site for Buddhists and Hindus. Stories of survival have filtered out, with tourist scrambling up the sides of nearby mountains, hoping to outrun the rapidly approaching death wave.
"When the avalanche of powerful waters ripped down from the high Himalayas, the melting glacier and debris first hit the Nepali village of Timure, near where Raja and her partner Pattabiraman Venkatesan were with their tour bus [ . . .] "It's like 60, 70 feet, it looked like a tsunami, but dark black," Venkatesan said. "... I could see this monster thing coming down," CBSnews.com reported.
Today, two days after the unpredictable geological event, 90 American are still among the missing, and the death toll has reached upwards of 2000.

Iran Calls For Support Against US Sanctions
As the U.S. announced this week, the Economic D-Day sanctions proposed, but not yet initiated, will be outlined on a country-by country basis, with the United States sending an timeline of expectation to each country.
"The Trump administration on Monday announced a plan to isolate Iran's economy by threatening to impose secondary sanctions on the "enablers" keeping the Islamic Republic afloat. "We are launching an economic onslaught against Iran's financial connections around the globe," Treasury Scott Bessent said as he unveiled the new sanctions scheme, dubbed "Operation Economic Outcast,"' CNBC.com reported.
In response to this announcement, Iran and requested regional partners to boycott the U.S. effort and for all parties, including Israel, to work on a ceasefire.
For the people of Iran, the economic sanctions have become a looming death knoll, with many just hoping to survive this latest development in an escalating war with the United States. Many see the upcoming elections as the opportunity for some shift in political approach to the handling of what was supposed to be a short war.
The continuing effort by the United States to control partners in the region, has resulted in a stalemate. The Strait of Hormuz, which is the only stronghold the Iranian government is able to exercise and has throughout every crisis which lands in the region over the past five decades, remains closed to sea traffic.
Pummeling the people of Iran with airstrikes, does nothing to end the continuing war between the United States and Iran, and like the continuing war in Gaza, which killed thousands, the death of families, children, and the destruction caused by the air raids will only create a deepening animosity, which will unfold in the future.
It is critical that Iran never have a nuclear arsenal, and allegedly that has been destabilized. If Iran's nuclear capabilities have been neutralized, the effort by the United States to drive a regime change appears more like a power grab.

Russia Ukraine Continue to Escalate Drone Warfare
The Russian military staged a drone attack on Kyiv striking a ammunitions depot, that was located in a residential section, killing 37, the second such ammunition storage building with the Ukraine capital to be hit by an escalating Russian drone warfare.
The Russians have introduced a new style of drone to the theater, with the introduction of jet-powered drones, which cannot be neutralized with traditional weapon fire.
"Jet-powered drones fly at speeds of up to 500 kilometers per hour (310 miles per hour), evading Ukraine's air defenses. They are also too fast for Kyiv's mobile fire groups, so the only way to shoot them down is with ground-to-air missiles or fighter jets – both of which are in extremely limited supply in Ukraine," CNN.com reported.
Continuing to enhance the most advanced weapons system in real time on the frontline, in Ukraine, is the United State's best opportunity to determine which weapons are most effective against the technically advancing state of war. DARPA, the Defense Advanced Projects Agency, which creates and test next-generation weaponry, should send its arsenal of evil to Ukraine to perform live battlefield testing.

At the order of the President of the United States, the U.S. no longer recognizes the value of The World Health Organization. The CDC has recommended every person from age six months, including senior citizens should receive at least one shot of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, annually. The death toll from Covid-19 has dramatically decreased, as has transmission of the virus. Even as confirmed new cases continue each week, fewer are dying from each new variants.
For the 7 days ending August 30, 2026, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported by the World Health Organization increased by 21,624 to 779,313,005. The total worldwide death toll did not increase over the past seven days has increased by 166 to 7,116,134 deaths. The United States has stopped providing Covid data to the World Health Organization. South Carolina Primary
Senator Darline Graham, the sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, has won the Republican primary. The incumbent, who has held the office for six week, will face democrat Dr. Annie Andrews in the November 2026 mid-term election.
The Mid-terms, now ten week away, have been creating much frustration in the republican party, as the primary polling season has proven that many solidly believed republican strongholds have been dismantled by politics as usual and the extreme polarization of the political process.
Now, for the first time in 24 years, South Carolina is no longer a solid red state and is now considered a toss-up. Why? Name recognition no longer equates to a slam dunk victory.
"As of Tuesday, Decision Desk HQ gave Darline Graham an 81 percent chance to beat Andrews in the general election. A Democrat has not won a statewide election in South Carolina since former Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-S.C.) and former Gov. Jim Hodges (D) did so in 1998," The Hill reported.
Measuring the candidates, both have limited political experience, and are at the starting gate of national politics, and both are female. Even as gender should not play a role in the political process, it does, especially in the South. The voters will have two women of equal experience to choose from when the Midterm voting begins.
Senator Graham has strong name recognition and has had a few stumbles that have become taglines for her opponent's campaign. During the recent debate, she appeared unprepared, and even as the mistakes didn't cost her the election, they are now soundbites for her opponent.

Maine Likely to Turn Blue
Incumbent Maine Senator Susan Collins, a moderate Republican, is expected to be one of the senate seats flipped this political season. The Blue Wave sweeping the East coast, which pairs both centrist democrats and more polarized socialist democrats into one party, will prove its strength if democratic challenger Troy Jackson, who replaced scandal scarred Graham Planter, can not only rebound, but overtake the incumbent, who has both name recognition and a war chest.
"He's got the right strategy, and it is a departure from Graham in just really focusing on Susan Collins and the stakes of this election," said Jordan Wood, one of Jackson's former rivals for the replacement nomination. "In a state like Maine, the best strategy, uniquely for this race, is you make it a question for voters, 'Who do you want in control of the Senate?,'" CNN.com reported.
Maine voters, which has been represented by Susan Collins for 29 years, may just feel the time is now, to change leadership.
Predictive Political Models
With the 2026 Midterms quickly becoming indictors of the Presidential 2028. Most political data prognosticators agree that the Democrats will flip the House of Representatives and will have a harder time, if not impossible, of flipping the senate. Even if the democrats pick up three seats, the Senate would be split 50-50, and any tie-breaker is broken by the Vice-President.
The Kalshi political trading company also predict the democratic party will win the presidency in 2029, by a wide margin, 59% to 42%, even without presidential primaries or knowledge of candidates.
