Former President and convicted felon Donald Trump has won the 2024 Presidential campaign, proving to the world that the United States is not the nation that its leaders preach to world of integrity, decency and ethics.
The President's job approval rating, according to the website fivethirtyeight.com for the period ending November 10, 2024, increased by 1.0% to 41.0% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness increased by 1.0% at 57.0% of those polled. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.
The November 5, 2024, Election results have been called by the Associated Press, with Vice-President Kamala Harris securing 226 Electoral votes and garnered 70,916,946 individual votes or 47.9% of the total votes cast, former President Donald Trump secured 312 Electoral votes and won the popular votes with 50.5% or 74,650,754 votes.
The Democrats lost four seats in Congress and the GOP gained four seats. The House race has yet to be called. To date, neither party has the 218 seats necessary to secure the majority.

Trump Wins Election, Payback Won the Day
The election of former president and convicted felon Donald Trump presents the American people in a unique spotlight internationally, the election proves a strong majority of the population would deny their nation's founding principles for their own spiteful gain.
Although many world leaders are too diplomatic to voice their actual thoughts, and the traditional congratulations are pouring in, as the United States, still, even wounded, is the most powerful nation in the world. However allied nations have prepared for a second Trump presidency with the extreme caution and concern, refreshing themselves on the 2016 presidency and his international actions, to ready themselves for his expected decisions. And as he is the devil they know, it's doubtful his actions will ring of anything but malicious, vindictive, payback, a slice and dice of all democratic programs.
As America is founded on the principal of self-governance, autonomy in choice, the election proves the majority of Americans relate to the persona of Donald Trump; he personifies the life they wish to lived, and he does it publicly without restraint or regard. Exactly 74,650,754 Americans or (50.5%) prefer to have a leader who is a convicted felon, without morals, flagrantly subjects his wife to public humiliations over his extramarital affairs, engages with porn stars, is a known misogynist, gouges the government for his personal financial gain, and calls himself a Christian.
On January 21, 2025, there will be a peaceful transition of power. Unlike January 6, 2021, when armed militias stormed the Capitol Building murdering Capitol police officers in the process to violently protest, take elected members of the House of Representatives prisoner, if necessary, to destroy the voter certification process. Democrats don't storm the capitol protesting the election of a convicted felon, they should, more importantly, pass law that bans a convicted felon from holding office.
Democrats Wounded by Coattail Politics Regroup
President Biden addressed the nation hoping to ease the shock of the results stating, "Campaigns are contests of competing visions. The country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice the country made. I've said many times you can't love your country only when you win. You can't love your neighbor only when you agree."
The democratic party was deeply wounded in this election, and through what is called the coattail effect, lost all footing in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, making it impossible to stop any legislation proposed by the Trump Administration.
This is Trump's second term he cannot run again, although as he owns the majority in both houses, and with the Supreme Court of the United States, now considered the court of five, he, like Russian President Vladimir Putin, could change the Constitution allowing him to run for an unprecedented third term. Former president Trump is 78, and realistically, time is not on his side. The possibility that he won't survive the term is real, and more importantly he may not survive to Inauguration Day. At 78, people die from old age.

The election glossary site, Polyas.com explains "The coattail effect describes the phenomenon of a popular presidential candidate or political party leader being able to attract votes for other candidates in his or her party. This often occurs in U.S. presidential elections where the winning candidate's party often also wins numerous seats in Congress. Thus, members are voted into Congress 'on the coattails' of the President."
New Regime Forces Democrats to Regroup
As the Democrats lost four Senate seats, and the Republicans gained four seats, the GOP now holds the majority at 53 seats, and the Republicans may retain the majority in the House of Representatives, as all the races have yet to be called. The first step in the democrats' plan to regroup, and more importantly regain some strength in Congress, is to focus on the midterms and seats, in both houses, that can be flipped. Politics are no longer politics as usual, and to change the results the strategy must be changed.
Four years may seem like a long time, and to regain the White House the democrats will need to find a candidate that relates to the mass.
In 2028, New York Democrat and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies could lead the ticket, barring any catastrophe, and could win. Unfortunately, the democratic party will not have a female lead in 2028. The effort to break the glass ceiling is too costly. Patterns support a female Vice-President.
If the goal is breaking the glass ceiling, regardless of party, Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as President Trump Press Secretary during his first two years, could, as patterns, prove and support, lead the ticket. Her polarizing politics resonate with a majority of the people. She may receive a cabinet call, or more likely a potential Vice-President position should Trump be unable to fulfil his duties.
As the sentencing for President-elect Trump's felony convictions is approaching on November 26, should he receive prison time, and appeals, it is New York State, and payback is what it is. It worked for the GOP in the campaign, and it will work for the democrats in sentencing. If he appeals, sometime before the next election he will be in prison.
As much as Trump has made the GOP party his family business, the idea of the American people, voting his family into office is doubtful. The coattail effect only extends so far, and as this election was fueled by bitterness, spite, and vengeance, the campaign rhetoric can't extend, the alleged steal is over, and suddenly even MAGA has stopped mentioning voter fraud.
Vengeance ruled the day, and democracy lost. The illusionary appeal of Trump doesn't extend to his linage, and they may not want to be part of this dynasty as they have more time and don't wat it marred by a lifetime of litigation and hatred. The American people will not forget, even as they move forward. Until the presidency becomes an election based on politics instead of payback, sides have been chosen and the line is clear.
Competing Visions
President Biden spoke to the nation stating, "You know, the struggle for the soul of America since our very founding has always been an ongoing debate and still vital today. . .Now we have 74 days to finish the term — our term. That's the responsibility we have to the American people. . . . Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable. Setbacks are unavoidable, but giving up is unforgivable. We all get knocked down, but the measure of our character, as my dad would say, is how quickly we get back up. Remember, a defeat does not mean we are defeated."
"House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), a fierce critic of President-elect Trump, congratulated him Thursday, emphasizing that Democrats respect the will of the voters and won't challenge the results. The American people have spoken," Jeffries said in a statement. "I congratulate President-elect Donald J. Trump,"' reported The Hill.com.
Coronavirus Total
The CDC has recommended every person from age six months, including senior citizens should receive at least one shot of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, annually. The death toll from Covid-19 has dramatically decreased, as has transmission of the virus. Even as confirmed new cases continue each week, fewer are dying from the newer variants.
For the seven days ending November 10, 2024, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported by The World Health Organization increased by 57,701 confirmed cases totaling 776,754,317. The total worldwide death toll increased by 967 to 7,073,466 deaths. The United States has stopped providing Covid data to the World Health Organization. Trump Begins Cabinet Picks
President-Elect Trump, the friend to the billionaire, is preparing to name his cabinet choices. Many of the names will be familiar, to Americans, as many of the potential cabinet members participated in the initial GOP Presidential primary debate process or were vetted for a potential Vice-Presidential spot.
"Another vice-presidential finalist, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), is expected to join the Cabinet, along with Vivek Ramaswamy, a primary rival-turned-ally to Trump, said people familiar with the deliberations. And people in Trump's orbit have floated Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) for defense secretary, according to a Trump adviser," reported The Washington Post.
What is clear from Trump's rejection of his former Vice President Mike Pence, loyalty to the Trump agenda is the critical factor for any potential cabinet member, even above political ideals, or constitutional concerns.
What can be expected as former President Donald Trump takes office are many of the same policy implementations and international treaty withdrawals as he initiated in 2016. The United States will be once again withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord as the New York Times reported Trump's transition team is preparing executive orders for signing on January 21 that will be disruptive to the climate, and as he believes the earth holds vast profit, destroying it and leaving it barren and unrecoverable for future generations, is acceptable.
"U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has prepared executive orders and proclamations on withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement and shrinking the size of some national monuments to allow more drilling and mining, the New York Times reported on Friday," Reuters reported.
For all his faults, President-elect Trump doesn't hide his true colors, he openly and with disregard for opinion presents himself. Like it or not.
