Beltway Insider: Biden/Kentucky, GOP/Jan 6, Omicron, COVID/Vaccine Totals, JFK, Perdue Pharma, Big’s Death

President Biden this week surveyed the damage of last week's supercell tornado that left a trail of death and destruction for more than 250miles across four states causing extensive damage and obliterating the small town of Mayfield.

The President's job approval rating, according to the website fivethirtyeight.com, for the period ending December 19, 2021 decreased by 0.9% to 43.9% of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness decreased by 0.2% to 50.5% of those polled who disapprove of his effectiveness. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Beltway Insider: Biden/Govs Meet, Julian Assange, COVID Variant/Vaccine Totals, Quad Tornado, Death and Devastation

Kentucky, One Week After

President Biden made several stops along the path of the killer supercell tornado, speaking with local leaders and reassuring the devastated communities that the federal government will be with them each step of the way as they move to recovery.

"There is no red tornadoes and blue tornadoes; there's no red states or blue states when this stuff starts to happen.  And I think, at least in my experience, it either brings people together or really knocks them apart — and moving you together here," President Biden said while speaking with local leaders after surveying the devastation in Kentucky.

Images of Mayfield, Kentucky, on the western edge of the state, show a town that took a direct hit and reinforced the strength of the twister, an EF-4, according to the National Weather Service which then traveled the 72 miles east to the hamlet of Dawson Springs, Kentucky and shredded the town tossing automobiles like tinker toys.

The devastation is indescribable. The images are reminiscent of bombed out neighborhoods along with the shell-shocked inhabitants. The words used across all media vividly depict the scenes and are common and often the same used in each disaster to describe the unfathomable catastrophic force of natures that plows through cities, towns, and lives and leaves everything in its path upended, tossed, and the people traumatized, dazed, shaken and astonished.

What is left are the stories, the human miracles of survival, the sorrow of loss, and the hope for renewal.

Kentucky governor Andy Beshear announced this week, all Kentuckians have been accounted for and "Right now, missing persons based on this tornado event are at zero." The Democratic governor said the 78 people killed in what he described as the most destructive tornado event in the state's history was still "a huge number of Kentuckians to lose," NPR reported.

"But we're not leaving.  We're not going to leave.  I promise you the federal government is going to be involved until this gets rebuilt, this whole — not just here, but particularly here, but also the other states as well," President Biden said after touring the destruction.

Medical Science: COVID-19 Got the Shot—What Next?

Omicron Spoils Holiday Hopes

After a summer of hopeful expectation, Omicron, the latest in the coronavirus variants, has risen like the Grinch who stole Christmas, without the happy ending, to steal the holiday cheer and force cities desperate for tourism to close down as cases begin to increase exponentially.

As in March 2020, New York City, the mecca for holiday tourism is facing shutdowns, closures, and cancellations, from Broadway to professional sports to restaurants while seeing an increase in hospitalizations.

"Hospitalizations are rising across much of the United States, leading public health officials to warn that a winter surge caused by both the delta and omicron variants could have devastating outcomes. "For the unvaccinated, you're looking at a winter of severe illness and death for yourselves, your families and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm," Jeff Zients, the White House coronavirus coordinator, said at a news conference Friday," reported The Washington Post.

For many the rise of the latest COVID-19 variant is forcing an impending truth upon the population, the coronavirus is here to stay and will always remain a public safety hazard, much like other epidemics faced in the past. Vaccinations, boosters and following the protocols and mandates issued by the federal government and local and state officials are the only possibility of counteracting the devastating effects of the virus. Mask up, get vaccinated.

Biden Stops Absurd Border Family Payouts

The Biden Administration has stepped in and effectively stopped any further negotiation for cash settlements, of around $450,000 per family, to Illegal immigrants detained and separated after their capture by border control agents.

"The attorneys had been in talks for months with the Justice Department and had been negotiating the possibility of a settlement of about $450,000 per person — possibly more in some cases — for the mental anguish, suffering and sometimes physical abuse the migrants endured," The Washington Post reported.

The absurd negotiation, which was entered into by the former Trump DOJ Administration who separated parents from children in an effort to address the growing illegal immigration issue along the southern border, was seen as an effort to alleviate the suffering. Separating the children from the parents would allow the parents to be prosecuted. While reunification was always the goal, children were separated for months, which is not uncommon when groups of illegals are trying to cross the border.

Children and toddlers, some of which are as young as two, are dropped over the fifteen-foot fence into the darkness of the desert, alone, without parent or guardian knowing the Border Control Agents will pick them up, house them and use the resources available at their disposal to locate the next of kin or find suitable housing.

The notion that the ACLU would step into this quagmire is as absurd as offering illegal immigrants, who suffered hardship in their attempt to illegally enter the United States nearly a half million dollars for pain and suffering. With the myriad of violations of civil liberties with the borders against United States citizens, green card holders, dreamers, and others, taking on this fight detracts from the good the organization capable to completing.

The commission of a crime does not equate to payment for the suffering after the capture. More, this precedent would cause the border to become a turnstile for illegals to claim hardship, pain and suffering knowing that the U.S. government will pay a substantial sum to silence the crocodile tears of stellar performance.

January 6 Sentencing

In the harshest sentence handed down to date, Robert s. Palmer, 54, of Key Largo, Florida, was sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for his role in the January 6, 2021, insurrection.

Palmer was videotaped hurling objects, including a fire extinguisher, a pole, and a plank of wood at officers who were holding the line to stop the Proud Boys and other fringe groups from entering the Capitol Building. His actions were captured on various videotapes.

To date more than 130 members of the January 6 insurrection who have been charged with assaulting police, Palmer is the second to have been sentenced. If the penalty is any indication of what is to follow those who attempting to bodily injure those protecting the capitol will receive severe and appropriate sentencing.

GOP Agrees to Pay Trump Legal Fees

Former President Donald Trump, who is already gearing up to announce his 2024 Presidential campaign to re-take the White House, has been able to secure $1.6 million in support from the Republican National Party to foot the bill of his legal fees in New York State.

"The party's executive committee overwhelmingly approved the payments at a meeting this summer in Nashville, according to four members and others with knowledge of the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a private meeting of the executive committee," The Washington Post reported.

The former President's lingering popularity and expected announcement closer to the 2022 mid-term elections of his intent to seek the Office of The President, a re-election bid that will stir the same controversial rhetoric as the American public was subjected during the 2020 election.

While many in Trump's inner circle has anonymously confided in the expectation of his run, the ticket will look markedly different as, insiders say, former Vice President Mike Pence is not being considered as a running mate.

World News: French Presidential Election Fringe, Extremes, and Identification

The falling out between the two apparently stems from the former Vice-President's constitutional hardline and failure to prop up the Stop the Steal campaign. His acceptance of the election and electoral college certification was seen as a roll over which resulted in his ouster of Trump's inner circle or future pollical opportunities.

"Trump hasn't made his 2024 bid official. He's expected to make a decision after the 2022 midterms. But he has been building a campaign-in-waiting that is already laying groundwork, and the question of a running mate is surfacing with increasing frequency. He's name-dropped Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as one possible running mate. Veepstakes speculation rose among insiders who saw him interact recently with South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at his Mar-a-Lago club," Politico reported.

Bloomberg.com has built a vaccine tracker which can be seen here. "In the U.S., 494 million doses have been given so far. An average 1.6 million doses per day were administered over the last week," Bloomberg.com reported.

Government Releases JFK Assassination Documents

The National Archives have released nearly 1,500 documents relating to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The majority of the documents, according to FOX News, " Many of the documents relate to Kennedy's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald. Many files also reference tensions between the United States and Cuba, evaluating statements from leader Fidel Castro that allude to the possibility of Kennedy being in danger due to escalating aggression between the two nations."

According to the Warren Commission, the official Congressional Investigation, President John F. Kennedy was assassination by Lee Harvey Oswald.

Although for decades conspiracy theories have focused on the government's involvement in his death they have primarily center on the CIA, without mentioning the possibility of then FBI director J. Edgar Hoover sanctioning the assassination.

Justice Watch: And They Got Away With It (Part 4)

Judge Reverses Sackler Family Safety Net

In a shocking decision a New York District Court Judge has reversed the protection of the ultra-wealthy Sackler Family, the drug manufactures behind the opioid OxyContin, which has been proven to be the root cause of Opioid epidemic that swept through America, killing more than 500,000 in two years.

"In a 142-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon in New York said that the controversial provision to grant the Sackler family members immunity from thousands of lawsuits over the public health crisis is "inconsistent" with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, disagreeing with the court that had approved the approximately $4.5 billion agreement in the fall," The Washington Post reported.

And Just Like That – Mystery Explained

And Just Like That, the continuation of the widely popular Sex in The City, from Michal Patrick King, who joins up with three of the original cast members, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon, in what appears to be another successful chapter in the saga of lives in Manhattan.

Already charged with controversary as Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha, steadfastly refused to be a part of any additional chapters of the extremely popular dramady. The shocking ending to episode one, the death of John Preston AKA Big, the love of Carrie's life, left everyone wondering.

Following the stunning ending the character played by Chris Noth was resurrected in a Peloton advertisement. Days later allegations of sexual assault by three different women, on separate coasts, against Noth caused Peloton exec's to pull the ad, stating, "Every sexual assault allegation must be taken seriously."

And Just Like That Big's death made sense.
