Reacher S2 Review – Heightened Suspense, Strong Story Driven Performances

Reacher, from Amazon, Paramount, and Skydance Production, brings to the screen a strong second season that reunites Reacher and his former military team, in a race against time as they investigate the systematic murders of their unit.

As episode one opens, Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson, is still in middle of nowhere, and happens onto a carjacking. Of course, in his unaffected zero emotion heroic method, he effectively manages the situation. One bad guy down.

Immediate Family Review – Great Songs, Great Stories, A Must See

What we find out in Reacher season 2 is beneath his walking man persona is someone with deep loyalties and when is he messaged by his old Staff Sergeant Neagley, played by Maria Sten, we understand there is more to his aloof, and extremely distant, personality. By the end of episode one, he is in Brooklyn, working with his Neagley, who is now a private investigator.

Once he understands that someone is killing off the Special Investigators, he gathers what’s left of his old unit, Karla Dixon, a former major in the SI unit, played by Serinda Swan, David O’Donnell, the sworn bachelor, played by Shaun Sipos, now, of course, happily married with kids.

To understand the camaraderie, throughout the eight-episode season, we often return to the beginning of the Special Investigations unit, when as a team this group of handpicked soldiers, each with a special skill or talent, were unified, able to work together and live and die together.

A Father’s Promise Review – Riveting, Passionate, Doc Addresses Gun Violence

With the murder of Franz, played by Luke Bilyk, comes the police investigation and we are introduced to NYPD Detective Guy Russo, played by Domenick Lombardozzi, a wear the badge proudly, live and die by the book just like his dad before him, detective, who really doesn’t like Reacher and his cowboy antics. The tension between them slowly dissipates until they become unified in the pursuit of the murderers who try an ambush hit at Franz’s funeral. Suddenly Reacher and Detective Russo are on the same page.

As the pieces unravel, we begin to understand behind all this is U.S. Defense department contract to build computer chips that act as a homing pigeon on any flying object. There is no evasive maneuvers available and another of the old SI team members, Swan, played by Shannon Kook, is the second in charge, and outside of Reacher, all the evidence begins to point to him as the betrayer of his country.

Reacher and his team also discover, a rouge group of NYPD officers, led by Shane Langston, played by Robert Patrick, all took early retirement, and each landed a cushy security job at the chip manufacturing plant. With the pieces slowly falling into place, the conclusion isn’t as simple as it looks.

They Shot The Piano Player Review – Five Star Animation Story, A Must See

Reacher Season 2, a heightened suspense, gripping, race against time, crime drama that delivers strong story driven performances. With a contemporary storyline that slowly peels back the layers, Reacher S2 with each episode not only exposes more about the characters connection, and loyalty, but also exposes the depravity of human nature, with all its hidden layers, agendas, deceit, corruption, and treachery.

Reacher Season 2 is binge worthy. Stream it.
