Bad Hombres Review – Thrilling Crime Drama, Strong Performance Driven Story

Bad Hombres, from Screen Media Chicken Soup for the Soul, brings to the screen an attention grabbing, electrifying, cartel drama as two illegals take a job only to find out their employer is burying dead bodies.

The film begins with two undocumented cousins, played by Felix, played by Diego Tinco and his cousin, played by Steve Louis Villegas, are walking to the local hardware store where they can catch a day labor job. The parking lot is filled with men looking for under the table cash gigs. When the man picks the crew Felix is not chosen. It is his first day in America.

American Star Review – Breathtaking Cinematography, Riveting Suspense Thriller

He tries to fill his water bottle inside the hardware store and is ushered out the door and then he approaches an older man illegal played by Hemky Madera, hoping for some water. He also turns him down. So he goes back into the store, and begins to fill his water bottle, when the manager attempts to throw him out, he begins to call him the typical demoralizing immigrant labels. Suddenly, a stranger with an arm injury, played by Luke Hemsworth, who is in the hardware store purchasing shovels intervenes, and begins to instruct the store manager on manners.

He asks Felix if he wants a job and if he could find a partner. Felix approaches the older man in the truck and soon both are following an oversized Cadillac to the middle of nowhere and told to dig a hole. Felix does not understand the translation for digging a hole in the middle of the desert usually has some illegal activity tied to it and when they dump the bodies, the older man realizes from the tats on the dead men they are cartel connected.

The Holdovers Review – Award Winning Performances, A Must See

A lone rancher, played by Kevin Carrigan, approaches the car and asks what these men think they are doing. In an instant, bullets begin to fly, the rancher is dead, the two amigos are thought to be dead, and the two illegals have stolen the caddy. In addition to being illegal, Felix is shot, losing blood and cannot go to the hospital. So now we begin to see a different side of the old man.

At this point, the Cartel's recovery man, played by Tyrese Gibson, is on the scene and begins piecing together what went down, and more importantly, where the money that they were laundering is now. The two illegals are covered in blood, the Caddy is shot up, and while the old man is getting gas, Felix has found the seats in this Caddy are lined with cash, and for him it was the most money he had ever seen in his life.

Without surgery he will do. So the old man takes him to an old friend Rob, played by Thomas Jane, who realizes he needs a surgeon, and calls the vet, played by Nick Cassavetes, and Felix is dropped off. With one crisis over, a backpack full of cash, Felix tries to hobble out of the office, only to hear the Aussie accent ringing through the kennels.

Weak Layers Review – Awesome Cinematography, An Immersive Experience

This sets up the surprise finale.

Bad Hombres is a classic cartel film, with plenty of action, and a plausible story that immediately captures the attention and really holds on throughout the entire film. The ensemble cast, with familiar faces throughout which add star value, elevate the quality of the project. The acting is good, and the story is well written and well directed.
