MIB 3: A Laugh Out Loud Trip Back In Time from Director Barry Sonnenfeld

Men in Black 3, a high speed, hi-jinks, trip back in time alien adventure, from Sony Pictures Entertainment/Columbia Films and Amblin Entertainment recently held its Los Angeles media screening in Century City, California.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and produced by Steven Spielberg, Men in Black 3, stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin and Emma Thompson in the third installment of the highly successful franchise and once again places Agent J & K in the middle of alien filled Manhattan trying to separate the aliens from the inhabitants.

MIB3 opens with the introduction to the worlds arch nemesis Boris the Animal portrayed by Jermaine Clement, an alien so dangerous a special prison was created in a distant galaxy so as to never allow for escape. Nicole Scherzinger, formally of X Factor, shows up as the animal’s girlfriend. Of course, Boris does escape his lunar prison and returns to earth to exact revenge on the Agent that put him away for forty years.

Enter the MIB; Agent J, Tommy Lee Jones, reprises his role, and with each installment the layers of his character are expanded. He portrays perfectly the Agent haunted by someone, something or both. The other half, of the alien crime fighting duo, Will Smith, portrays Agent J, and “J” is also haunted by his absentee father. Emma Thompson joins the cast as Agent O. Her versatility as a talent works well for her in this role. The need to right past wrongs or at least, lay them to rest, drives each to a different time and hopefully different conclusions.

As Will Smith, Agent J, takes a trip back in time to seedy sixties Manhattan he encounters K, portrayed by a very funny, Josh Brolin, whom he has risked the trip to save him from the revenge of the animal. The two discover the secrets of the universe as they encounter the aliens intermingling with the enlightened locals who are infiltrated by MIB sent to monitor the Bohemian explosion of freedom.

Josh Brolin is hysterical as a younger “K” as he imitates with precision the mannerisms, gestures and signature styles Mr. Jones has created for his character “K.” As imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, his portrayal of a younger “K” is comedic brilliance!

Standout performances in MIB 3 by Michael Stuhlbarg as the prophetic alien visionary Griffin; a young Agent O, Alice Eve and Bill Hader as Andy Warhol.

Men In Black 3 is written by Ethan Coen, one half of the quirky and highly successful, Coen Brothers and is well done with witty dialogue, sharp exchanges and humor!

MIB 3 is simply funny, enjoyable, entertainment! A laugh out loud good time! Barry Sonnenfeld hits the mark! His trip back in time is flawless! MIB 3 has stellar moments and standout performances by all! Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are a dynamic duo!

MIB 3 opens May 25, 2012. Check your local listings for show times!
