Explorer, from Universal Pictures Content Group, brings to the screen the passionate, dramatic, and adventurous journey of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the world's greatest explorer, through his own recollections, actual voyage footage, archived material, and personal interviews.

Explorer, like many of the dangerous and adventuresome climbs, start long before one reaches the pinnacle. This story is no different. We travel back in time to Fiennes childhood, the son of a British solider who was at war, and then killed in battle. Fiennes grew up wanting to be like the man who had grown into legendary proportion, however military life wasn't for him, but the adventure continued to bait him.

He explains as the only male child in a household of females he was doted on and grew up in a loving family. We travel this road with him, meeting his childhood friend, the desire to storm the castle, overcome the enemy, become the conquering hero's, a theme that was very real as the war produced many real stories of men fighting for their country and becoming celebrated.

He married his childhood sweetheart, Ginny, who was more than a doting wife, she was his media director, marketing manager, PR guru, and literally able to move through any obstacle with aplomb. She is showcased pulling in sponsors for his various expeditions. Her tenacity and determination went along with the creed they agreed upon, that they should be able to secure all the necessary needs without paying. While many would see this a young married couple's naivete, they were able to move along massive global expeditions through sponsorships.
