Marty Supreme also dominated the BAFTA nominations earning 11. Hamnet, directed by Chloe Zhao, set a record for most nominations by a female director with eight nominations. Frankenstein, from horror virtuoso Guillermo Del Toro, also received eight, and Bugonia, the Emma Stone-Jesse Plemons starrer received five nods, with Plemons landing a well-deserved acting nomination.
98TH Oscars® Nominations Announced
The Norwegian film, Sentimental Value earned four nominations with Stellen Skarsgard earning a BAFTA nomination in the supporting actor category. He also received an Academy Award nomination and was honored with a Golden Globe for his performance. He is heavily favored in the category, which includes One Battle After Another co-stars Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro, Hamnet's Paul Mescal, I Swear's Pete Mullan and Frankenstein's Jacob Elordi.
The BAFTA rising star nominee, which were announced one week ago, include Archie Madekwe (Lurker), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Miles Caton (Sinners), Posy Sterling (Lollipop) and Robert Aramayo (I Swear).
Alan Cumming will host this year BAFTA ceremony on February 22 in London, three weeks before the Academy Awards, which take place in Los Angeles on March 15, 2026. As the voting bodies of both Academy's overlap, the BAFTA's are often considered the best indicator of the Oscars winners.
However, until the envelope is opened and the announcement is made, anything is possible.
