Hamptons International Film Festival Announces New Presenting Sponsor Artemis Rising Foundation

Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) announced they are welcoming internationally celebrated Artemis Rising Foundation as the Presenting Sponsor of this year's festival. HIFF also announced that world-renowned painter Mary Heilmann has been selected as the featured artist.

The 32nd annual festival will run as an expanded 11-day event from October 4 - 14, 2024.

Artemis Rising Foundation, led by founder and CEO Regina K. Scully, is dedicated to supporting media, film and education that transform our culture and challenges the status quo. The foundation champions powerful stories about some of the most important social justice issues of our time — including mental health, trauma recovery, addiction, sustainability of our earth, and personal empowerment.

Ms. Scully has helped produce hundreds of the most impactful documentary films of the past two decades. These have affected meaningful changes to legislation & policy, education, corporate protocols and cultural norms across all sectors of society. HamptonsFilm also shared the poster art for the 2024 festival, continuing the 32-year tradition of featuring artwork from local Hamptons artists. A documentary on Heilmann's life and career, Matt Creed's MARY HEILMANN: WAVES, ROADS, AND HALLUCINATIONS, had its world premiere at the 2023 Hamptons International Film Festival and is scheduled to be released by Tribeca Films. HIFF will hold a screening of the documentary and unveil the striking new poster with Ms. Heilmann's work at an event this summer in conjunction with The Parrish Art Museum.

HIFF has awarded prizes to filmmakers in cash, goods, and services of over $5 million over the past 31 years, with annual cash and in-kind prizes totaling more than $130,000.

HamptonsFilm's annual Film Festival hosts four distinct competitions, focused specifically on early-career filmmakers, bolstering their work at an important juncture. HIFF also presents numerous other awards, including the Peter Macgregor Scott Memorial Award, the Brizzolara Family Foundation Award for Films of Conflict & Resolution, the Zelda Penzel Giving Voice to the Voiceless Award, the Rabinowitz Award for Social Justice, Breakthrough Artist Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and more. The festival is a key spot on the fall awards circuit, and films featured at the 2023 Festival received 43 Academy Award nominations, and overall, films in the last 16 editions have received a total of 570 Oscar nominations.

ABOUT MARY HEILMANN

Born in 1940 in San Francisco, California. Mary Heilmann earned a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1962), and an MA from the University of California, Berkeley (1967). She moved to New York the following year, in 1968. Since then, Heilmann's work has appeared in three Whitney Biennial exhibitions (1972, 1989, 2008) and is included in the permanent collections of many museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, San Francisco MoMA, National Gallery of Art, the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht, Netherlands, and the Städel Museum in Frankfurt, Germany. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters (2017), was a United States Artists Oliver Fellow (2014), and has received the Anonymous Was a Woman Foundation Award (2006) and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation.
