ARIA, from Award Winning Director Myrsini Aristidou, Will Hold World Premiere at Venice International Film Festival

ARIA, a short film, directed by award winning Myrsini Aristidou will have its world premiere on August 31st 2017 at the 74th Venice International Film Festival followed by one Press & Industry Screening and two public screenings in September.

The short was produced by 1.61 Films and Topshot Films with the support of Canal +, CNC, Ile-de-France Film and Audiovisual Fund and the Spike Lee Film Production Fund. The film will be running in the Orizzonti competition of the festival (30.08 - 9.09.2017).

ARIA follows a day in the life of a teenager in Athens. Seventeen-year-old Aria, who is working at a local kebab place is waiting for a driving lesson with her father. When he finally arrives, it's not to go for a drive; on the contrary, he confides in her the care of a young Chinese immigrant who speaks neither Greek nor English.

Myrsini Aristidou is an award-winning filmmaker born in Cyprus and based in New York, Paris and Cyprus. She graduated with an MFA in Film Directing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and holds a BFA in Film and History of Art from Pratt Institute in New York. 

Her previous short film Semele won multiple awards worldwide, including the Berlinale Short Film Special Prize of the Generation Kplus International Jury. Myrsini was a Spring 2017 fellow in the Cannes Cinéfondation Residence and has also received support through the TIFF Talent Lab, Berlinale Talents, and the Torino Script Lab.
