World-Class China Lights Festival Coming to Craig Ranch Regional Park

The Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co., Ltd., in cooperation with Zigong City and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, announces that world-class China Lights lantern festival will debut at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas as part of a cultural trade mission.

From Jan. 19 through Feb. 25, Craig Ranch Regional Park will be illuminated with 40 larger-than-life lantern displays, comprised of more than 1,000 components using state-of-the-art LEDs and animation. The festival will also include cultural demonstrations and displays, traditional Asian and western dining options, and nightly live stage entertainment.

"We are honored to bring the China Lights lantern festival to the Las Vegas Valley, especially as it overlaps with Chinese New Year," said Huiyuan Liu, Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co., Ltd. event manager. "This festival is a spectacular celebration of the Chinese culture that we hope evolves into a yearly tradition for the Southern Nevada community."

A press conference will be held at Craig Ranch Regional Park to announce the five-year partnership between the City of North Las Vegas, Sichuan Tianyu Culture Communication Co., Ltd, Zigong City, and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce.

For the inaugural year, Boyd Gaming will be the exclusive gaming sponsor, with opportunities for other local businesses to sponsor the lanterns throughout the exhibit.  The press event time alludes to the number eight's association with good fortune in Chinese culture. Tickets for the festival will be available starting on Dec. 4 and can be purchased at chinalightsLV.com.

As part of China's five-year economic plan, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce developed a campaign with the goal of holding 100 light shows in 100 cities worldwide to spread Chinese traditional culture and promote cultural exchange. The traditional custom of lighting lanterns has occurred for thousands of years, and Zigong City now boasts 380 lantern-making companies with 80,000 lantern artisans.
