Wrath of Man Review – A Fast Action Adrenaline Rush

Wrath of Man, from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, brings to the screen a gritty, action revenge thriller, that pits a one-man killing machine, as he seeks to avenge the murder of his son, against a group of hardened mercenaries.

The film opens with an armored car heist. A well-trained group of armed robberies posing as construction workers stopped the vehicle with a simple stop sign and in seconds the truck is breeched. Seconds later the two-armed guards are dead and a single bystander is murdered.


The Underground Railroad Review – Authentic, Riveting, An Against All Odds Suspense Story


Moments later Patrick Hill, played by Jason Statham is running toward the robbery. He is shot multiple times. Three weeks later is awakes and we find the bystander was his son, Dougie played by Eli Brown. This tragedy sets him on a revenge mission.

Soon Hill applying for employment at Fortico, an armored car cash delivery company, that hauls money all over Los Angeles and attracts unsavory attention. We meet Bullet, played by Holt McCallany, who shortens his name to "H." And suddenly he is a member of the crew.

As per usual bad ass locker room banter meets the street as Boy Sweat Dave, played by Josh Harnett, who talks a big game, becomes H's partner. Along with Bullet, the pair are covering the route when they are confronted with the real deal which is when we see H in action. What began as a hostage money grab ends poorly for the would be masked bandits.


Monday Review – Fun, Frivolous, A Romantic Dramady


Six dead and all the money returned, and H is a hero. The FBI, of course, shows up which is the first time we get a glimpse of the backstory hiding behind the smoldering, seething, revenge rage. At this point we meet Agent King, played by Andy Garcia and we also find that Patrick is well-known, well-trained assassin. His contact at the FBI explains there is no progress on finding his son's killer.

As the FBI is without leads, Hill is given permission of run through the list of possibilities which leads him and his associates into the dark, seedy, vile corners of the Los Angeles underbelly. Soon, we are told every rotten apple has been shaken from the tree and still no suspects. Whoever killed Dougie was stealth and unknown.

This is when we meet our mercenaries led by Sarge/Jackson, played by Jeffrey Donovan and Sam, played by Raul Castillo, Tom, played by Chris Reilly, and Jan, played by Scott Eastwood. A former military unit, the group all served in Afghanistan and returned to a country that had no respect, concern, or care for veterans.

Facing unemployment, the group began pulling small robberies, with small payouts. Soon the group began pulling bigger jobs, until they decided to take it all.


Trigger Point Review – A Sleeper Hit, Action-Packed Thriller


This sets up the explosive ending when smoldering rage revenge meets the killer of his son.

Wrath of Man is presented in three act vignettes with a subject title card separating. With each act the audience is pulled deeper into the characters. The ensemble cast capture the essence of their characters and bring believable performances.

A solid action flick, Wrath of Man is a treat for movie goers who can see it in theaters, it delivers big high-speed explosive action. A pure, unadulterated adrenaline rush.
