Ben & Jerry’s Co-Founder Announces Plan to Rubber Stamp “Not To Be Used to Bribe Politicians” on over 2MM Dollar Bills

"The Supreme Court said, when it comes to elections, money is free speech, so we're going to make our money scream," says Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Head Stamper of StampStampede.org.

Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream launched a website today urging people to pledge to stamp messages like "Not To Be Used To Bribe Politicians" and "Stamp $$$ Out of Politics" on paper currency during the week leading up to January 21, the 8th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision Citizens United v. FEC as part of a national collective action to protest the corrupting influence of money in politics.

Breaking: Former Trump Campaign Manager Indicted on Conspiracy Against United States

In less than 24 hours of launching an online pledge page to participate, 2,763 people have collectively pledge to stamp 1,170,129 dollar bills.  See the pledge page at: StampStampede.org/Pledge/

"The tax scam, net neutrality, drilling in the Arctic wildlife refuge-- It's simple, lawmakers have sold out the American people for campaign contributions and kickbacks," says Ben Cohen, co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream and Head Stamper at StampStampede.org. "This is a massive, decentralized, protest against big money in politics from corporations and billionaires along with a demand to pass legislation and the 28th amendment to overturn Citizens United and take back our democracy."

Cohen's group Stamp Stampede has partnered with over a dozen national organizations to recruit tens of thousands of people to participate in public events across the county in the week leading up to the anniversary of Citizens United on January 21.

"The beautiful thing about stamping is that anyone can do it, anytime, anywhere," Says Cohen, "it's a simple action that has a huge impact.  Together, these million bills will be seen more than 1,750,000,000 times.  That's 1.7 billion reminders to members of Congress that it's time to start representing the people, not special interests."

Donald Trump Wins The Presidency In A Shocking Upset

"This is the one issue that unites Americans.  We want to end the domination of our political system by the money of the powerful few," says Jeff Clements, President of American Promise, a national organization leading a cross-partisan strategy to win the 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to empower Americans by ending out-of-control election spending by corporations, Super PACs, billionaires and special interests.  "This action sends a powerful message to Congress that we will no longer be ignored."

Stamp Stampede is joined by Our Revolution, Democracy For America, American Promise, Move To Amend, Every Voice, Franciscan Action Network, Wolf PAC, Public Citizen, Represent.Us, People For The American Way, Patriotic Millionaires, Democracy Matters, Mayday.us, New Hampshire Rebellion, Money Out Voters In, and Maine Citizens For Clean Elections.
