Kino Lorber Acquires All U.S. Rights To SXSW Thriller “Like Me”

Kino Lorber is proud to announce the acquisition of all U.S. rights to LIKE ME, a psychedelic thriller about the horrors of social media obsession, which had its World Premiere at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival (Narrative Feature Competition).

Written and directed by Robert Mockler LIKE ME produced by Larry Fessenden, James Belfer, Robert Mockler, Jessalyn Abbott and Jenn Wexler.

Starring Addison Timlin (Little Sister), Ian Nelson (The Hunger Games), and indie horror veteran Larry Fessenden (Habit), LIKE ME is a visually daring trip into the world of teenage nihilism and online popularity.

Mudbound Review – Exceptional Character Driven Performances; A Triumph

After posting a video of herself robbing a convenience store, Kiya (Addison Timlin) amasses a huge social media following and goes on a crime spree propelled by social media broadcasts. In her quest for validation, she encounters a drifter, an Internet troll, and a paint huffing outsider who are all pulled into her circle of chaos, junk food, and drugs.

Kino Lorber is planning a theatrical release in January, 2018, followed by a VOD release in March. The deal was negotiated between Wendy Lidell, Kino Lorber’s SrVP, Theatrical & Non-Theatrical Distribution and Acquisitions, and Scott Freije at XYZ Films.

"We are thrilled to partner with Kino Lorber,” wrote Robert Mockler in a prepared statement. “I've long admired their diverse and adventurous taste as well as their deep passion for the history of cinema."

“We’re looking forward to working with the teams at Glass Eye Pix and Dogfish Pictures, and proud to introduce to audiences the inventive new vision that Robert Mockler brings to the screen,” said Wendy Lidell.
