Dear Friends of di Rosa,

I write to thank you for all of your thoughtful messages of support for di Rosa and to share an update with you. We are relieved to report that all di Rosa staff and board members are safe and that those who had to be evacuated have now been able to return to their homes. However, we are heartbroken to learn that several of our volunteers and donors lost their homes, along with so many throughout our community.

We owe tremendous gratitude to the first responders who were onsite when the fire hit di Rosa and helped protect our main campus from the flames. We know that our temporary storage facility sustained fire damage. While we continue to assess the impact to di Rosa, we are very fortunate that the vast majority of our collection is housed offsite in professional storage.

We are also extremely fortunate that our galleries and offices were spared, although the fire came very close to these structures, bringing thick, heavy smoke with it. We are working with a professional team of experts to abate the smoke, improve indoor air quality conditions, and determine the required safety and conservation needs so that staff can return to the site and di Rosa can reopen as soon as possible.

Thus, di Rosa remains closed until further notice. The opening of our next exhibition, Be Not Still: Living in Uncertain Times has been postponed until further assessment can be made, and all tours are cancelled through November.

We appreciate your patience and support while we take these critical safety measures and ensure professional stewardship of the collection. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

We stand with our community during these difficult days. This has been a time of much anxiety and grief. In the weeks ahead, we will be announcing ways that di Rosa can be a place to bring all ages together with hope and inspiration for an even stronger community.

We look forward to reopening our doors and welcoming you back to di Rosa.

Warmest regards,

Robert Sain
Executive Director
