H10 Hotels opens its new 5-star Urban Hotel, The One Palácio da Anunciada, in the heart of Lisbon. This marks the second establishment opened under the luxury hotel brand - The One, following The One Barcelona opened in 2017.

The property is housed within a beautiful and majestic restored 16th century palace central to the city’s historicism. Located in the well-known area of La Baixa, just a few metres from the Avenida da Liberdade and Praça dos Restauradores, the hotel is in the city’s most prestigious shopping district, and close to the main touristic attractions such as St George’s Castle and the Santa Justa Lift.

New Five Star hotel in Lisbon has launched in soft opening phase, officially opening on 1st May, located in the well-known area of La Baixa, a few meters from Avenida da Liberdade and Praça dos Restauradores, one of the most exclusive areas in the city.

The restoration work of the property has recovered elements such as marble floors, coffered ceilings, glass windows and frescoes from the original building.

The hotel comprises 83 rooms, 13 of which are Junior Suites and Suites. It also houses three different dining areas; the Restaurante Condes de Ericeira, the Boémio Cocktail Lounge and the O Jardim Wine Bar. Other features include; spectacular gardens, an outdoor swimming pool and a Wellness Spa.

The architectural project has undertaken meticulous rehabilitation, and also allowed some significant spaces of the building to be restored such as; the main staircase to the old chapel, the grand living rooms and the old kitchen, recovering their original essence. The interior design has been carried out in collaboration with Chilean designer Jamie Beriestain, with a commitment to combining tradition and history with luxury, and features that guarantee maximum comfort.

The hall of the hotel is particularly majestic due to its creation from high quality materials such as marble, alongside frescoes adorning the wall and a huge coffered ceiling.

The History of the Palace

The palace was initially built in 1533, years later it became the home of one of Portugal’s most esteemed noble families - Condes de Ericeira. During this period the palace was incredibly luxurious, however in 1755 the building was damaged in an earthquake. Following its reconstruction at the end of the 18th century, the palace became the residence of the Marquises of Rio Maior and illustrious names in Portuguese politics and society were born there, such as João Oliveira e Daun, Duke of Saldanha, who was Prime Minister of Portugal on various occasions between 1835 and 1870.

Timeless Luxury

Each of the 83 suites at The One Palácio da Anunciada has been designed to offer the perfect combination of distinction and comfort. In order to achieve this, the designers have opted for the use of natural colors and high-quality building materials including natural wood, Portuguese marble and velvet upholstery. The rooms also include traditional Portuguese decorative elements such as hand-painted blue and white ceramic pieces, designed exclusively for the hotel, adorning the bed’s headboards.

In addition, photographs of the palace before and after the restoration allow guests to appreciate its huge transformation and acknowledge its history.

Amongst its plethora of elegant bedrooms, The Deluxe Garden Suite stands out - it spans over 30 m² and has a privileged view over the hotel gardens. Alternatively, The Grand Deluxe has dimensions of 35 m², making it an ideal choice for families. One of the most exclusive suites is the Tower Suite spanning over 45 m² which is located in the tower of the palace and offers a spectacular panoramic view of the city. Finally, the two-bedroom Garden Suite is 85 m2 in size and is connected to rooms with large seating areas.

All rooms have exclusive amenities of Natura Bissé Barcelona, as well as Egyptian cotton bedding from Casa Bassols 1790.

Local Flavors

The hotels main dining location - the Condes de Ericeira Restaurant, offers a traditional Portuguese menu infused with Mediterranean touches, all curated by Executive Chef Bruno Fradeira. It is located on the First Floor, overlooking the hotel gardens, and is a unique space thanks to the remarkable decorative richness of its original ceilings, which are real works of art featuring hand-painted frescoes.

Alternatively, there is a more informal option located on the same floor as the restaurant known as the O Jardim Wine Bar. A selection of delicious tapas accompanied by a range of Portuguese and international wine is on offer. A number of decorative features work to create the relaxed and chic atmosphere such as; the circular bar at the centre of the space, a rich coffered ceiling and a unique pendant chandelier. There is also an outdoor area perfect for enjoying warmer weather with friends.

The One Palácio da Anunciada has also announced the opening of the Boémio Cocktail Lounge, which is located on the main floor. It will have direct access from the street - perfect for light lunch in a relaxed environment.

An Oasis of Tranquility in the Centre of the City

One of the crown jewels of the palace are the magnificent 2.500 m² gardens. The outdoor area of the O Jardim Wine Bar is located in the main garden, which is open to both guests and the public. There are also different rest areas and a large fountain, as well as a Dragon Centenary - a hundred-year-old dragon tree recovered from the original garden.

An area of French-inspired garden is located on a higher level, with exclusive use for hotel guests. This area has a spectacular 18m swimming pool, a hammock area, solarium, Balinese beds and a pool bar- which will be open during the spring-summer season.

Wellness Area

The One Palácio da Anunciada launches the modern urban Despacio Spa at The One, equipped with hydrotherapy, a shower with chromotherapy, and a variety of treatment rooms for luxury treatments using Natura Bisse Barcelona products.

Guests can also enjoy a gym and fitness room with high-end equipment, open 24 hours a day. Natural light filters into this area thanks to the skylight located on the roof. The Wellness Area has all the finest luxuries to pamper both body and mind.

Perfect for Events

The hotel offers a meeting room located in the Old Palace Kitchen, as well as another four rooms for private events. These areas have views over the gardens, perfect for organizing social and corporate events. Furthermore, the Palace gardens also provide a privileged and charming setting for outdoor celebrations.

Finally, other guest services include concierge Clef d’Or, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, along with a private car park and valet parking.
