World’s Largest Rowing Competition Marks 50thAnniversary with Annual Head Of The Charles Regatta® In Boston

The annual Head Of The Charles Regatta®presented by BNY Mellon, will mark a momentous milestone this October, celebrating its 50th occurrence with a gala celebration to cap off the historic two-day race event along Boston’s iconic Charles River with more than 10,000 athletes from around the globe set to compete in historic event before 400,000 spectators along Boston’s Charles River.

 

Fans and spectators flock to the riverbanks every year to watch male and female rowers compete in 61 nail-biting events while taking in the sights and sounds of the scenic arena. This year, the event will include a special gala celebration at Buckingham Browne & Nichols School on the evening of Saturday, October 18 to commemorate the Regatta’s 50th anniversary. The gala will feature exciting speakers, an anniversary documentary, and commemorative gifts for attendees.

In addition to the exhilarating rowing action and 50th anniversary gala celebration, the Regatta offers a number of family-friendly activities for all ages. A rowing and fitness expo will be open to the public, food vendors will serve New England from all over the world, and fans will be able to visit a 50th History Exhibition tent near Hospitality Row on the banks of the Charles.

Rowers aged 14 to 85, including many of the sports biggest stars, will come from all over the world to test their skills in front of more than 400,000 spectators for the 2014 Head Of The Charles Regatta.
