Twin Explosions in Russian Metro Blast; Ten Killed; Dozens Injured (Pictures)

At least ten commuters, possibly children on spring break, are known to have died as twin shrapnel bombs tore through two subway trains, in St. Petersburg, Russia, that left dozens injured according to the state news agency TASS.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was attending a forum in St. Petersburg, has been quoted in multiple media as saying authorities are considering all possible causes of the twin explosions including terrorism.

Social Media users have alerted the world to the deadly blast which occurred between the Tekhnologichesky and the Sennaya Square metro stations in St. Petersburg, Russia, a major coastal city of 5million, located near the Finland and Estonia borders.

All St. Petersburg Subway stations have been closed after the morning blast. Pictures are surfacing of mangled carriages, and injured and dead lying on the platforms. It was reported at least eight ambulances had gathered outside the subway station.

Solid information is limited and the consensus on the Social Media platform twitter indicate at least ten have died, 50 or more injured, two trains were blown up, and the St. Petersburg metro wide has shut down.  CNN reports twin explosions.

Putin was in St. Petersburg attending the All Russian People’s Front convention. The conference was held 16km from the blast site. The beleaguered world leader is fighting global accusations of election interference in the U.S. November Predental elections that instilled longtime associate Donald Trump into the office of the President.

Putin whose violation of territorial sovereignty of neighboring Ukraine resulted in sanctions and expulsion from the G8, has yet to be brought back into the fold and is still facing severe sanctions by the United States and has yet to be reinstated into the G8.

Oddly, and unfortunately, some social media users have posted the blast was arranged by the KGB or by Putin directly to instill fear in the people and reinstate order.

Putin has expressed his condolences to the families of those lost in this tragedy.
