Girl, 16, Dead After Vicious Attack

Amy Inita Francis-Joyner, 16, a sophomore at Howard High School of Technology, in Wilmington, Delaware, died Thursday morning after she was jumped in the girl’s restroom by two other sixteen year olds and beaten to near death over a boy.

Francis-Joyner was airlifted, after she was found, to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital where she died of her injuries.

A witness, a girl hiding in the stalls, has said two other girls jumped her and slammed her head against the sink. The scene, according to sources, was very bloody as Francis-Joyner was viciously brutalized by more than one and possibly more than two assailants.

Her parents have stated they had no idea that she was having any problems at school and certainly not major problems.

Howard High School is not known for violence. The vocational school remains on lockdown with students undergoing questioning.

Her classmates have remembered her as levelheaded, college bound, studious and rational. Her pictures show her as an attractive teen, working her phone's camera she carried in a blue bear case, for the best selfie, as we all do.

Prosecutors has not made any public statements on intent or level of charges to be brought against those involved.

This case, one of many particularly brutal youth-on-youth violence plaguing society, is not a structured gang related murder. The death of Francis-Joyner is a tragedy and those responsible should be prosecuted to fullest extent of the law.
