Sabyasachi Mukherjee Spring Collection - Talkin' About a Revolution

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, designer of Sabyasachi, made his second appearance at this year's New York IMG Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week previewing his Spring/Summer 2008 Collection to a standing room only audience that erupted with applause as he showcased his designs.

The designs introduced by Mr. Mukherjee are created to include a more conservative female who desires to be fashionable and still respectful of religious and cultural beliefs.

Fashion Week 2014, Trends Past - Rebecca Taylor Spring Collection 2008

As America becomes more diversified with religious and cultural beliefs expressed freely plus crossover appeal this clothing line has massive potential for success. The inspiration of this Collection centered on respect and love of country and culture.

Warm earth tones, Georgia red clay, henna dyes, military green and desert sand shades encapsulated his collection. Oversized, floor length dresses designed for comfort, freedom and travel. Hooded cotton flat panel sleeveless dresses layered with camisoles and full-sleeved tunics of silks that made men hunger and brave the seas to find.

Previewing in the collection were very wide flare leg slacks coupled with vests. The military inspiration is evident and shown through simplistic and yet bold red hammer and sickle design with smaller emblems created in a 3-D picture frame style on the back of the garment.

Designer's end their preview with formal wear. For Sabyasachi Mukherjee, the formal wear was inspired from the conservative culture of his youth and beliefs, and consisted of hooded full-body silk tunics coupled with matching slacks. This style allows a global approach to fashion and is accessible for the modern female business traveler to be respectful of a countries culture and still be upscale, contemporary and fashionable!

The collection ended with blues singer Tracy Chapman's "Talkin' About a Revolution" and the line is just that.
