The Academy Spotlights Female Animators With "An Invisible History: Women In Animation"

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will celebrate the women who have been at the forefront of film animation with "An Invisible History: Trailblazing Women of Animation," on Monday, August 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

Hosted by author and historian Mindy Johnson, the evening will feature panelists Gretchen Albrecht ("Robin Hood"); Jane Baer ("Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"); Lorna Cook, the lead character animator on "The Lion King;" Eleanor Dahlen ("Sleeping Beauty"); Jun Falkenstein ("Despicable Me"); Virginia Fleener, animator at Disney Studios during WWII; Carole Holliday ("Prince of Egypt"); Patty Peraza ("Beauty and the Beast"), the first credited female effects animator at Disney Features; and Tina Price ("Fantasia 2000"), the first female "Head of Computer Animation" at Walt Disney.
