Wemo Media App TheBlu Secures Seed on Ocean Experience

Wemo Media, an innovative visual effects studio, launched from the recent 2012 CES, secured two million in seed venture based on their ground-breaking beta TheBlu.

TheBlu, the brainchild of Hollywood special effects  veteran Neville Spiteri, who is credited on such critically acclaimed films as True Lies, Apollo13 and Terminator 2/3D. He, along with Andrew R. Jones, James Cameron’s animation supervisor of the Titanic’s “sinking sequence” and AVATAR Academy Award winner truly lead a master class of animators and special effect wizards heralding from Sony Pictures Animations, Digital Domain, George Lucas’ ILM and Walt Disney Animation Studios.

TheBlu core team is an equally impressive team of developers, creators,  technology innovators, veteran executives from film, games and the web, and renowned marine scientists including: Kevin Mack (Academy Award winner, What Dreams May Come), Louie Psihoyos (Academy Award winner, The Cove), Joichi Ito (Director, MIT Media Lab) and Sylvia Earle (Explorer in Residence, National Geographic).

TheBlu,  a computer application, fuses gaming, social media platforms and digital animations, to create a single global community dedicated to preserving and building a collaborative Ocean experience which allows one user to interface with multiple users globally or single user to build their own personal Ocean, complete with aquatic habitat unique to their experience.  

TheBlu, enables users multiple opportunities for interaction. TheBlu acts as a learning tool for personal or organized marine biology study, users can utilize the application in a gaming form, intermingling with sea life for points, and in the animation aspect where users of TheBlu can build their own Ocean and reach out, as in any social network, with users around the world.

TheBlu, encourages digital artists throughout the world to join and share in developing a pristine Ocean utilizing all aspect of digital wizardry and special effects animation techniques. They also offer the opportunity for these artists to have their work reviewed and critiqued by the Wemo’s creative team. Additionally, users can join TheBlu for the simple pleasure of utilizing the application as a screensaver, a passive participant in the oceans beauty, much like an aquarium.

TheBlu, is a free application accessible through any web browser. Wemo Media is adapting an app for all mobile devices as well as continuing to upgrade the user experience creating a more realistic and pristine versions through the use of Unity3D.
