Hurricane Danny Upgraded to Category 3 Storm

Hurricane Danny, the first named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane 2015 Season, quickly escalated to a Category 3 storm gaining strength over the warm waters of the Atlantic pushing forward threatening the Virgin Islands, Leeward and Puerto Rico.

Key cone modules give Danny a wide berth with sustain winds of 115mph, Danny is expected to cause wind damage across much of the northern most Caribbean Islands and bring much needed rain to the drought effected Puerto Rico.

The system supporting Danny is expected to weaken and, according to weather modules, Hurricane Danny does not pose a threat to Florida or the eastern seaboard.

Although off Key West and Miami may experience higher tides, some beach erosion and higher than normal waves.

Even as all indicators have Hurricane Danny fading quickly and quietly, officials are using the first named storm as a platform of preparedness urging coastal residents and those most usually effected to get a game plan.

Prepare for, minimally, 72 hours before any official first responders will be available. This includes electricity outages and any supplied services.

Have spare glasses, additional medicines, a list of allergies, and medical needs on the off chance medical care is needed. Prepare for pets needs also. Have name badges, with medical information including blood type, food allergies and special needs typed to the back of the badge covered in plastic and worn with a whistle. Have a designated meeting place and coded signal. Practice fire drills, home safety procedures.
