Istanbul Airport Twin Blasts: 41 Dead; 239 Injured

Twin bomb blasts denoted at Istanbul Turkey’s Ataturk International airport after three suicide terrorists began firing shots into the crowded terminal killing 41 and injuring hundreds as the Islamic state terrorist organization has claimed responsibility.

The first phase of the attack initiated near the international arrivals and departure terminals as two of the terrorists set off twin bombs and before the dust settled began firing indiscriminately in the crowd. The third terrorist was waiting in the parking lot one can reason to murder those fleeing the airport carnage.

Each of the terrorist were wearing suicide vests in which they detonated.

From all reports frightened travelers were able to hide inside the international airport in stores, behind walls, in closets and other safe places and few exited the airport. Unsure of the unfolding scene within the terminal, panicked travelers waited three hours for the go ahead from officials to exit the airport.

The scene, all too familiar, broken, shattered glass, severed limbs, death and slaughter. Military police were at the scene herding travelers to safe zones.

The Istanbul attack is not considered an assassination attempt on the life of Albanian Prime Minster Edi Rama who, coincidently, had just landed and was on the tarmac at the time of the attack and has since condemned the attack as “barbarous.”

World leaders and coalition members have voiced the same condemnation of the Istanbul Attacks, calling for a renewed effort in the degrade and destroy campaign focused on the Islamic State Fighters/ISIL.

“We remain steadfast in our support for Turkey, our NATO Ally and partner, along with all of our friends and allies around the world, as we continue to confront the threat of terrorism,” said Josh Earnest, White House Press Secretary.
