Dems Win House Put Brakes on Trump Reign; Senate Remains Red

Americans flocked to the polls yesterday, taking decisive action in the historic mid-term elections and put the brakes on President Trump’s steamrolling agenda winning back the House of Representative for the first time in eight years.
With every seat up for elections, the November 6, 2018 mid-terms where more than business as usual in Washington and throughout the nations as voters braved torrential downpours, the threats of tornados, long lines, and even voter intimidation in some states to ensure this president understood the message of the people.
The days of politics as usual are over and the signal came yesterday. In expected and hotly contested races surprises ruled the day. Even traditional swing states, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida, sent which can never be counted on for one, which were firmly held by Donald Trump during the election pulled the plug on the Trump machine.

Across the nation key races brought out the hopeful as the exiting legacies passed the mantle onto the next set of leaders hopefully with real world solutions to the myriad of real world problems that Americans face every day.
Highlights of several key races across the nations:
Former Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney moved to Utah earlier this year declared his intention to run for the senate seat soon to be vacated by Incumbent Republican Senator Orrin Hatch and yesterday won the seat handily defeating his democratic rival Jenny Wilson by nearly double, 62.4% to 31.5% percent of the vote.
Illinois Gubernatorial race went to democrat J.B.Pritzker, the billionaire Venture Capitalist, who handily defeated republican incumbent governor Bruce Rauner by more than 15% of the vote.
Wisconsin governor Republican Scott Walker, in a narrow defeat lost the office he has held 2011 to Democrat Tony Evers by 1.2% of the vote. Wisconsin has moved into the swing state category with voters so decisively split.

Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan retired and his former 1st Congressional seat also went Red with a victory for Bryan Steil, who had worked with exiting representative Ryan, carries a similar agenda to Washington. Incumbent Tammy Baldwin, (D) held her seat.
Outgoing Governor Jerry Brown, who legacy of dedication to the people of the state of California continues even as term limits have him exiting the office he passes the mantle of Governorship to former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who won the deeply divided state by 19.5% percentage points.
California Senator Diane Feinstein (D) returns to Washington to represent the people of her state 8.8%. Nancy Pelosi also won her seat in the House defeating her challenger Republican Lisa Remmer by a whopping 71% of the vote.
Incumbent New York Democrat Governor Andrew Cuomo, who defeated politician/activist and actress Cynthia Nixon earlier this year to win the democratic nomination. He went on to win a third term defeating his nearest challenger Republican Marc Molinaro by 22.2% of the votes.
The voter's of New York also elected the first African American female, Letitia "Tish" James, to the position of New York's Attorney General.
Colorado voters, known to be progressive, elected Jared Polis, the nations first openly gay governor.
Ohio incumbent Senator Sherrod Brown (D) defeated Rob Portman (R) to maintain his seat. Ohio remains a swing state with both parties representing the Senate.
A two term limit state Governor John Kasich (R) a harsh critic of The Trump machine, was succeeded by Republican Mike DeWine, a former US Senator who won the state by 50.7% of the vote a 4.3% narrow margin over democrat Richard Corday, who secured 46.3% of the vote. The narrow defeat could easily be flipped if all registered voters took part in the process.
Pennsylvania, which was held firmly by President Trump’s red steamroller during the 2016 election lived up to its reputation as a swing state and re-electing democrat Governor Tom Wolf, for a third term. Senator Bob Casey, (D), maintained his seat fending off a challenge from Republication Representative Lou Barletta.

After the congressional redistricting of Pennsylvania, Conor Lamb, a republicans democrat, won the coveted and controversial 18th District. Lamb, considered the blue offspring of a red mold, he also had to defend his special election victory yesterday, and again won a deeply red district securing 12.2% of the voters.
Dennis Hof, won the day with the most unusual story. The deceased Nevada brothel owner, Hof, was elected to the state assembly. He passed away at his ranch just one month ago. His seat can be filled by the governor, until the next election, or a special election can be held.
With the 2020 Presidential election on the horizon, and both parties claiming victory the election rest solely in the hands of the American voters and their ability to see past the rhetoric and decide on the vision for America.
