US Army Major General Assassinated in Afghanistan

U.S. Major General Harold Greene was assassinated, and fifteen other high ranking military personnel wounded, in a broad daylight staged attack during a joint visit to a UK military training facility in Afghanistan.

General Greene, the highest ranking officer to be killed in combat since Vietnam, was considered a gadget guru and often used the latest technology as training tools.

"At least 15 other soldiers were injured. Two Britons, several Americans and generals from Germany and Afghanistan were among the wounded," reported the BBC news.

An insider, dedicated to destabilizing the efforts of the afghan government and people, reported to be an Afghan military police officer was identified as the shooter.

"The insider is a pernicious threat and we have worked hard to minimize it," said Rear Admiral John Kirby.

No official statement has been released by the President.

The assassin was shot dead at the scene.

This is a developing story.
