Money News: New Home Sales Continue Upward Trend

The U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development announced sales of new single family houses in August 2015 were recorded at a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 552,000 units. This represents an increase of 5.75% from the July 2015 annualized rate of 522,000 and an increase of 18.45% from the June 2015 rate of 466,000.

In August 2015, new single family homes sold for a median price of $292,700 at an increase of 0.55% from the previous month. Sale prices for newly constructed homes were as high as $302,700 in November 2014.
