Man Throws Child Off Manhattan Skyscraper; Commits Suicide

A Brooklyn man, who was allegedly in a custody dispute, committed suicide after throwing his three year old son off the roof of a luxury high rise located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Dimitriy Kanarikov, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene. His son, Kirill, still dressed in Christmas pajamas, survived the 52 story fall, and later died at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital.

Detectives are still piecing together the tragedy which from all accounts stemmed from a custody battle between the deceased and his estranged wife, Svetlana Bukharina.

With only three days before the holiday the senseless tragedy was especially horrific. Three months ago the couple had posted loving messages on Facebook with photos of a happy, smiling, affectionate family.

The couple’s relationship over the past three months had dissolved into bitter hatred. The marriage had become so deeply acrimonious that custodial transfer for visits were to be proctored at the police precinct. The deceased was to transfer custody of the child back to his mother at 1:00PM.

This is a developing story.
