President Trump received a new set of demands from the Iranian government, indicating that the Strait of Hormuz, the critical seaway that ferries much of the worlds oil, will remain closed until the demands have been met.

The President's job approval rating, according to The New York Times for the period ending August 9, 2026, of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President increased by 1% to 38% and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as president decreased by 1% to 59%. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Iran Issues Demands

President Trump, who has seemed to shuffle the Iranian war onto his team, has been served with a new set of demands from the Iranian government, indicating the Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping lane in the region, will remain closed, under guard and blockade until such time as the demands have been met.

The Iranian negotiator "will likely put pressure on President Trump to consider Iran's conditions if he wants to lower consumer prices for Americans, which pose a risk for Republicans ahead of November's midterm elections [ . . .] Iranian officials had hinted on Saturday that the reopening of the strait was not imminent," The New York Times reported.

The United States, in support of regional ally, Israel, entered the war and began airstrikes on Iran, in February and immediately dismantled the regime, by killing the former Ayatollah. The United States effort only enflamed the authoritarian government forcing them to retaliate by closing the Hormuz Strait.

For Americans, this resulted in a jump in oil prices, which saw pump prices rise exponentially furthering a widespread dissatisfied with the current administration. Trump who once presented himself to the people as one who could end all wars, has yet to end one, and the residual price is reaching American shores.

Michigan Primary

After the surprising Michigan democratic senate primary upset, in which Abdul El-Sayed, a democratic progressive, secured a slim but decisive victory over a well-funded and mainstream endorsed candidate, Haley Stevens, the November election appears to be a wave that has the potential to sweep over the nation.

With the election of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in November 2025, the progressive democrats have been gaining momentum endorsed by progressives, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D-NY, the mainstream democrats are struggling against a younger, more youthful, determined and invigorated progressives who believe the core ideals of American, that the nation is for all, not simply the elite, powerful or the few. The philosophy which sells America is in actuality, a truism, and this subgroup of the democratic party is prepared to take their cause mainstream.

Political views that once seemed undeniable, including the longtime and permanent Israeli alliance, is questioned by many progressives and the democratic senate primary in Michigan exemplified the temperature of this partnership.

In Michigan, "The two candidates also personified Democrats' struggle with Israel. Like others on the party's left, El-Sayed called the war in Gaza a genocide and said he wanted the U.S. to end its military aid to Israel. Stevens, an Israel supporter, benefited from more than $30 million spent by the super PAC of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. The group's support, sometimes even rumors of it, fuels tensions as Democrats wrestle with articulating their stance on Israel without alienating voters," reported The Washington Post.

Looking Ahead to 2028

President Trump has begun to shift the political narrative, tabling any discussion of attempts to challenge the 22nd Amendment which places term limits on the office of the presidency, and focusing on redirecting support to his Vice-President JD Vance.

"At the end of the day, we need to elect JD," Trump said during an Oval Office meeting with donors roughly two weeks ago, according to two people with knowledge of the comments who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter," reported The Washington Post.

Trump has kept a public endorsement of Vance, quiet, however Vance has been picking up on Trump's early rhetoric as he in recent days called out a reporter for being overweight, stating, "if you ever meet him in person it's quite obvious the man has never missed a burrito."

The snide remarks are simply fuel which worked when Trump in November 2015, before the 2016 election mocked reporter Serge Kovaleski, which is disabled, during a campaign rally. Mud wrestling and taking the low road, has become an earmark of Trump's campaigns, and it is a tactic, that as distasteful as it is, works for the base that seem to believe public shaming, ridicule and mockery are acceptable.

While Vance seems to believe he is the heir apparent to the MAGA base, the realities present a dimmer perspective. Another strong potential candidate is Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a son of Cuban immigrant parents. Rubio is also on Trump's shortlist as potential successors.

However, for all candidates, Democrats and Republicans, the Oval Office isn't without hurdles. Any potential candidate must win the primaries as no one candidate has the luxury of automatically securing the parties nomination.

With Operation Epic Failure, the newly dubbed title for Operation Epic Fury, the Iranian debacle, causing waves of economic hardships to much of the American public, an endorsement from Trump to someone so close to him, who has, in two years, alienated Catholics, with their 1.2 billion worldwide following, belittled Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office on camera, and initiated a fat-shaming attack on media who attempt to criticize him, and has failed repeatedly to secure the Iranian peace deal, selling him as the next leader of the free world to the MAGA base may be more difficult than Trump believes.

The democratic socialist that is sweeping the nation is proof that the voters of the country are looking for change, and not simply a change in the holder of the title. The people want real change; they want leaders who will represent their interests.

Granted once elected Washington politics is a cesspool of special interests and finding a middle ground to secure monies for overlooked communities, rally for states or districts, and fight the political establishment, not necessary all an old boys club, but certainly a two-party only club, is challenging and the grand ideas and ideals become marred and accepting one or two small concessions for the larger gain becomes the goal. And once again, the vulnerable populations suffer.

The current undertow, that is dragging everyone down, is a deeply divided house and senate, with all efforts on stopping any advancing agenda to the point that a widening base of voters believe the only solution is to start fresh, send everyone home, and begin again.

Whether a fresh start will fix the ills that plague Washington, or a change of leadership will calm the chaos, the desire for change has arrived. Can you see it coming?

Weaponizing Religion

Weaponizing religion will be the next dividing line in American politics.

After the surprising Michigan democratic senate primary upset, in which Abdul El-Sayed, a democratic socialist, secured a slim but decisive victory over a well-funded and mainstream endorsed candidate, Haley Stevens, his name alone invokes in many communities recognition of the downfall of the American ideal.

Without knowing El-Sayed, an American-born son of Egyptian parents, educated in the United Sates, extremely intelligent, and delivered his commencement speech on religion, he understood in 2007, that religion would become the next weaponization tool used to discriminate, negate, belittle, and disparage and with it those of the targeted religion, would suddenly be labeled with the tags to paint the person the shade needed to further one's own agenda or campaign.

Christians, Muslims and those who practice the Jewish faith are all subject to labels and tags that portray them in a manner as to denigrate them, in some way, either with extreme beliefs that cloud their judgement or polarized views of people or are intolerant of other religions.

The problem with these labels is the weaponization of religion causes strong reactions, and sometimes violent reactions, and has been recorded throughout history. The Crucifixion, the Holocaust, the assassination of Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, in 1981, over a peace deal with Israel.

Over the past three years, the temperature of global religions has reached a boiling point, October 7, 2023, the ongoing genocide in Palestine, the widening Middle East war, religion is the foundation of these wars, generational hatred, as old as recorded history, a hated that causes the temperature in most even tempered to rise.

Just as gender was proactively used as a lid to keep women away from decision making roles in the 1970s, the upcoming midterms are going to introduce the practice of weaponizing religion and Muslims will be targeted as Anti-American. While there are no Muslims serving in the U.S. Senate, four Muslims have been elected to the House of Representatives.

At the order of the President of the United States, the U.S. no longer recognizes the value of The World Health Organization. The CDC has recommended every person from age six months, including senior citizens should receive at least one shot of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, annually.  The death toll from Covid-19 has dramatically decreased, as has transmission of the virus. Even as confirmed new cases continue each week, fewer are dying from each new variants.

For the 7 days ending August 8, 2026, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported by the World Health Organization remained constant at 779,262,630. The total worldwide death toll did not increase over the past seven days remained constant 7,116,028 deaths. The United States has stopped providing Covid data to the World Health Organization. Organ Donor Company Decertified

In what can only be described as scenes from a horror movie, the Department of Health and Human Services, this week began steps to decertify Network for Hope, an organ procurement agency, after a year long investigation initiated by a man, who barely survived a harvesting attempt.

"The group, Network for Hope, is the second organ procurement organization to be decertified in a Trump administration crackdown after the HHS shut down Miami-based group Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency in September for mismanagement and safety concerns. These organizations, known as OPOs, have faced scrutiny for allegations of fraud and patient safety violations, but few have faced severe penalties," The Washington Post reported.

The patient, who had been brought into surgery, awoke before the harvesting procedure and grabbed the surgeons hands to stop the operation. This is not the first time an organ procurement agency has been reported for attempting to remove organs from patients, who are deemed viable, which means breathing through life support systems.

Once life support is removed, if the patient wakes or breathes on his own, the patient should not be harvested, if the patient shows neurological damage consistent with protocols determined as brain dead, and is unable to sustain breathing after life support is removed and the patient has designated himself as an organ donor than harvesting should begin.

Eaton Fire Cause Confirmed

The Eaton Fire, a deadly inferno that consumed much of the Southern California town of Altadena, during a Santa Ana wind event that pummeled the region, was caused by a spark in an electrical tower owned by Southern California Edison.

"The county's fire department said the blaze, which killed 19 people and destroyed more than 9,400 buildings, was started by electrical sparks coming off the tower, according to a joint investigation by the department and Cal Fire, the state's firefighting agency. The tower was out of service at the time," The New York Times reported.

During the wind event, the region experienced hurricane force winds reaching 100 MPH, hampering helicopter water drops and other firefighting methods. As wildfires are common, and often conditions, hot dry summers, tinder, coupled with high winds, a lightening strike can ignite a spark, which can travel miles on the wind, and ignite a secondary blaze.

The catastrophic January 2024 fire event began in Pacific Palisades and coupled with the winds roared out of control consuming nearly everything in its path. Homes along the Pacific Coast Highway were devoured leaving only ash and the cement foundation amid charred remains. However, sparks from the inferno did not reach Altadena, and the separate "rain of sparks" coming from the electrical tower outside the town, in minutes, became an uncontrollable inferno.

In total, 30 fatalities were directly attributed to the fire, 18,100 structures were destroyed, and the total cost was upwards of $95 billion in damage. The January 2024 Los Angeles County fires were the second most deadly fires in history, behind the Paradise, California fire which killed 80, after a electrical tower sparked the blaze during a high wind event.
