Beltway Insider: Trump/State of the Union, Disruptions, Divisions, Disunity, Medicaid, Cost-of-Living, Trumpian Politics

President Trump delivered his State of the Union address this week, in which he presented many false statements and half-truths and combating these statements, the democrats used tactics and optics of their own to message the American people.

The President's job approval rating, according to The Economist for the period ending March 9, 2025, decreased by 1.9% to 46.0% of those polled who those polled approve of his effectiveness as President and those who disapprove of his effectiveness increased by 2.8% to 50.0% of those polled. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Trump's State of the Union

President Trump is never more his true self, than when the cameras are rolling as he understands the optics, and the inherent belief that people believe the president has a measure of honesty. Above all, this president is a showman, the televised coverage, the optics, a cheering, adoring majority, applauding his every word, translates across the medium to the millions sitting in their living rooms, that his words are honest and ring true when in fact many of his statements were false, factually false.

This happens frequently in this White House, the presentation, when the cameras begin to roll, of factually false statements, piped into American homes, through the media, which many don't have a fact checker to filter the truths, half-truths, and blatant falsehoods, before the words are spoken, and reverberate into the minds of the voting public.

Divided politics was never more apparent than during President Trump's State of the Union address, this week. As many Democrats took to silent protests, holding signs to convey their feelings of utter shock and disgust at the speed in which the president has restructure American government, with catastrophic outcomes for many who are now unemployed after trusting him with their vote.

They also used laughter, possibly as the best medicine, to stomach the repeated self-congratulating statements. And like the president, the democrats are aware of the optics, the media, the constant messaging and the need to counter the false statements.

Disruption

Texas House of Representative Al Green (D) was removed for his boisterous display and lack of decorum, when he repeatedly interrupted the president, shouting, "You have no right to cut Medicaid." The ouster, which is only enforced when it affects democrats, as the house republicans, sang "Na, Na, Na, Hey, Hey, Hey, Kiss him Goodbye," as he was ejected on the order of Louisiana Representative and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

This was a key moment that Republicans failed to realize the gravity of the statement, as they march with proposed cuts to Medicaid, not even thinking of 2026.

Medicaid Cuts

The GOP proposed Medicaid cuts will backfire as many of Trump's constituents utilize the benefits of this program.

"More specifically, 36.8 million children, 7.2 million seniors, 8.4 million adults with disabilities, and 13.9 million people with mental illness or substance use disorders receiving health insurance through Medicaid would be harmed. Depleting federal Medicaid funding would force state programs to restrict eligibility and reduce services, removing care from those who need it most," PIH reported.

Medicaid cuts are targeted simply due to the lack of an equitable voter pool. When the cuts result in major tax cuts for high-net-worth individuals, in the 300K range, and the pool of Medicaid users includes 23 million people who won't vote, and another 37 million who haven't aged into the voting population, this population demographic, in this administration, becomes expendable. Another 7.2 million seniors may age out, through death, of the voting population.

Other Medicaid cuts involve rural hospitals and greatly effect individuals who trusted this president with their vote. If these cuts go through, the potential of a House shift in 2026 becomes more tangible, which limits the ability of the president to continue his restructuring of the U.S. government except through executive order.

World News: A New World Diplomacy

Trump and Law Enforcement

"And as we reclaim our sovereignty, we must also bring back law and order to our cities and towns.  In recent years, our justice system has been turned upside down by radical-left lunatics.  Many jurisdictions virtually ceased enforcing the law against dangerous repeat offenders while weaponizing law enforcement against political opponents like me. My administration has acted swiftly and decisively to restore fair, equal, and impartial justice under the constitutional rule of law, starting at the FBI and the DOJ," Trump said.

This statement is half-truth. President Trump, as many remember, was convicted of 34 counts of business fraud, by a jury trial, and the conviction upheld, after repeated attempts to have the verdict tossed. The New York State Attorney General Leticia James also secured a guilty verdict resulting in a hefty fine. Trump believes he was politically targeted. However, there are many dangerous repeat offenders who are given a pass, especially in New York and New Jersey. When given the opportunity to restore the rule of law, Trump pardoned many of the January 6 insurrectionists, even after they marched in mass, vandalizing the Capitol building, forcing all members to be removed for security purposes, injuring and murdering Capitol Police officers.

"When Trump pitched himself as an advocate for law enforcement, Democrats yelled "January 6th" — referring to Trump's pardons of supporters who assaulted police that day," reported The Washington Post.

Lowering The Cost of Living

"By slashing all of the fraud, waste, and theft we can find, we will defeat inflation, bring down mortgage rates, lower car payments and grocery prices, protect our seniors, and put more money in the pockets of American families," Trump said during the 99-minute address to the nation.

This statement is predictive, a not-yet-realized- point of view that the President believes will happen. Of course, returning to his July 2024 debate on the price of eggs, which Trump continues to blame on the previous administration, which again is untrue, as Avian or Bird Flu, has resulted in millions of egg producing chickens to be slaughtered, which created a shortage in egg production, and simple supply and demand, has caused the price of eggs to rise.

Michigan Senator Elissa Slotkin, who presented the rebuttal, stated, "President Trump is trying to deliver an unprecedented giveaway to his billionaire friends. He's on the hunt to find trillions of dollars to pass along to the wealthiest in America. And to do that, he's going to make you pay in every part of your life. Grocery and home prices are going up, not down [. . .]. His tariffs on allies like Canada will raise prices on energy, lumber, cars. Your premiums and prescriptions will cost more because the math on his proposals doesn't work without going after your health care," APnews.com reported.

Democrat Division

The President addressed the disunity stating, "I look at the Democrats in front of me, and I realize there is absolutely nothing I can say to make them happy or to make them stand or smile or applaud.  Nothing I can do."

Trump exhibited his narcissistic need here, by suggesting that the democrats should, essentially bow before him, as he continues to reiterate that he is the greatest president in modern history. The message, which continues whenever the cameras are on, is geared toward mind control of the masses, with the end of goal of controlling the voters and not losing the majority in House of Representatives in 2026 or gaining senate seats during the midterm elections. Endorsing either in 2026 confirms to him, his style of government is a referendum by the people.

"Trump also claimed that his presidency has caused more Americans to view the country as being on the "right track" than the "wrong track" for the "first time in modern history." This is simply not true. A couple polls showed "right track" briefly outpacing "wrong track," but that's not unusual in a new administration. And the vast majority show "wrong track" leading by a significant margin," reported The Washington Post.

The theory of erosion describes the mind control messaging tactics utilized by the president. Just as the constant battering of hurricane, or heavy blustering, winds, overtime, erode and reshape the shoreline, the presidents blustering, reshapes the political landscape. His words, false or not, reshape the thinking of the voting public.

Stronger Border

Trump has continued his pursuit of a stronger southern border. "The territory to the immediate south of our border is now dominated entirely by criminal cartels that murder, rape, torture, and exercise total control — they have total control over a whole nation — posing a grave threat to our national security.  The cartels are waging war in America, and it's time for America to wage war on the cartels, which we are doing," Trump said.

Trump's immigration statements were half-truths, meaning some of what he said was actually true, while the other half, was not.

During his first administration Trump proposed The Wall, solid steel fence, that initially dramatically reduced the number of illegal immigrants who crossed into the United States in this area. Human trafficking is operated as a business by the cartels, who have utilized other innovative methods to cross the United States border.

Immigration is not the previous administration singular problem, the problem with the southern border dates back as far as Ronald Reagan, and the methods of smuggling humans across the border have continued to evolve. Blaming the previous administration is falsehood.

Closing/Not Closing Education Department

Trump has suggested closing the Education Department by way of an Executive Order. However, as this act needs approval by the Senate, where he does not have the votes to support the plan, he will not even propose the closure, as a senate loss is still a loss, and plays as a victory for the democrats to the American people.

Coronavirus Total

At the order of the President of the United States, the U.S. no longer recognizes the value of The World Health Organization. The CDC has recommended every person from age six months, including senior citizens should receive at least one shot of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, annually.  The death toll from Covid-19 has dramatically decreased, as has transmission of the virus. Even as confirmed new cases continue each week, fewer are dying from the newer variants. A recent outbreak of the virus across the European continent has caused the World Health Organization to issue a warning.

For the seven days ending March 9, 2025, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported by the World Health Organization increased by 14,348 confirmed cases totaling 777,519,152. The total worldwide death toll increased by 797 to 7,090,776 deaths. The United States has stopped providing Covid data to the World Health Organization. (Data updated February 23, 2025, from the World Health Organization).

Paving the Way for Trumpian Politics

At least, it appears as if he is not attempting to abolish the voting system and instill himself as President for life, at least not in the traditional sense, and he could, as the Supreme Court has made it clear when a crime is committed by the president it is not a crime.

Although it is doubtful, the messaging is geared toward the base constituents those now disgruntled unemployed Republican voters, injured by the restructuring of government, which could continue to snowball, especially if his efforts to dismantle the Education Department are realized in anyway, who will once again head to the polls in 2026. He is hoping these injured Republicans will forgive his cost-cutting measures that forced them out of work, many at crucial time in their life, when employment is not as easy to secure, and continue to support his agenda, if not for any other reason, that the other constant messaging which vilifies the former administration. It is all mind control messaging.

World News: Trump and Putin Seek to Resurrect the Iron Curtain

While Trump is moving fast, he is also thinking about the future. Should he fail to live out his term, then Vice-President JD Vance, assumes the office, the vice-presidential vacancy would be filled by the incoming President nominating a new vice president.

This would be tricky as the new, incoming, Vice-President, must then be confirmed by a majority vote in both the House of Representatives, where the GOP holds the majority, at least until 2026, and the democrats hold the majority in the U.S. Senate, at least until 2026. This process is outlined in Section 2 of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Throughout the previous administration, each day presented the same concern and contingency plan and he also survived his term.
