Road To The White House - 2012

With the Iowa Caucuses over and all focus on New Hampshire, the first primary of this pivotal Presidential race, the party’s two front runners, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum, moved their machines into full gear and into the Granite State.

After an eight vote squeaker victory for Mitt Romney over the Rick Santorum, that left both men receiving 24% of the votes in the hotly contested and clearly divided race for the 2012 Republican nomination, the win ushered in the official whittling process as the GOP contenders are minus two former contenders.

The surprise of the week would be Ron Paul, who stayed above water with a 3rd place victory and 21% of the vote. The final numbers put Senator Newt Gingrich, in fourth place with 13% of the vote and Texas Governor Rick Perry, in fifth place with 10%. Tea Party candidate, Michele Bachmann ended her presidential campaign after a dismal sixth place finish and 5% of vote.

With no real winner emerging from the swollen pack of Presidential hopefuls the voters in the Iowa Caucuses echoed the disgruntled voice of the nation. The Republican National Convention, taking place in August in Tampa Bay, will solidify the party focus as they challenge President Obama in the November election for President of the United States.
