In August, the Academy will announce the list of scientific and technical investigations that will be conducted this year. At that time, individuals and companies with devices or claims of innovation within these areas will have the opportunity to submit additional entries for consideration.

After thorough investigations in each technology category, the Scientific and Technical Awards Executive Committee, comprised of distinguished engineers, scientists and filmmakers, will meet in the fall to vote on recommendations to the Academy's Board of Governors, which will make the final awards decisions.
