Galerie, A New Kind of Film Club, Launched by Indian Paintbrush

Indian Paintbrush announced today the launch of GALERIE, a new immersive film club that combines curated film collections, original videos, considered writing, and live screenings and discussions into a single destination. Director Wes Anderson will join as curator.

Dedicated to celebrating film curiosity, GALERIE brings together fans of cinema to create an enthusiastic and vocal community. With membership offered for $10 a month, GALERIE is available now at GALERIE.com.

GALERIE's dynamic and expanding selection of curators—including luminaries such as Mike Mills, Taylor Russell, Karyn Kusama, Ethan Hawke, Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Gray, and Ed Lachman—guide members as they deepen their journeys through film in a shared place where everyone is invited to exchange ideas and learn.

Featuring exclusive filmed conversations with the curators, detailed perspectives from renowned novelists and journalists, plus interviews with filmmakers, cinematographers, editors, composers, costume designers and more, GALERIE revels in the nuances often missing in today's media landscape. GALERIE's live screenings and discussions, hosted by leading authorities on cinema, also offer opportunities to engage in real-time discourse on inspiring themes and topics.

Galerie is delighted to soon welcome longtime Indian Paintbrush collaborator Wes Anderson to devise and direct an exclusive space within the platform that will present ongoing exhibitions personally curated by the filmmaker.

"Amidst the media clutter overwhelming all of us, we are delighted to introduce GALERIE as a unique sanctuary for discovering cinema differently," says Steven Rales, founder of Indian Paintbrush. "GALERIE offers the opportunity to explore the indelible contributions of those more and less visible in the filmmaking endeavor, as well as an avenue to converse and learn about the many attributes of this cherished medium."

Shaped by a wide range of filmmakers, creatives and innovators, GALERIE is led by Andy Shapiro, SVP Digital Content at Indian Paintbrush, and Julie Huntsinger, Executive Director of the Telluride Film Festival.

Shapiro is a digital-content veteran who has been with Indian Paintbrush since 2018. He previously held programming and development roles at Legendary Entertainment and Machinima. As Executive Director, Julie Huntsinger oversees the beloved Telluride Film Festival, held each Labor Day weekend in Telluride, Colorado. She began her career in the film business in 1993 by working for Francis Ford Coppola's film studio American Zoetrope in San Francisco. Huntsinger produced films all over the world before joining Telluride co-founder Tom Luddy as co-director in 2006.

"I've always envied film lovers of days gone by, when cinema societies and clubs were numerous and the ability to truly connect about and discuss films was natural and easy. GALERIE has found a modern and exciting way to build a framework for this to happen," says Huntsinger. "Cinema has new life with this discovery place, shaped by those who live and breathe film. GALERIE allows us to encounter, share, and learn about this most wonderful of art forms."

With a mission to celebrate film conversation and literacy, GALERIE offers access to film collections curated by industry creators, thoughtful essays, and exclusive live events with today's most esteemed cinema professionals and cultural minds.

GALERIE's original videos, articles, and live community events can be accessed anywhere in the world, while licensed films are only available in the United States. Although GALERIE is currently available at galerie.com, the advertising-free platform will soon be launching GALERIE apps for iOS, Android, tvOS, Amazon Fire, Roku, and Android TV.
