AFI FEST 2013 presented by Audi Announces a Special Tribute to David O. Russell

LOS ANGELES, CA, October 31, 2013 – AFI FEST 2013 presented by Audi, a program of the American Film Institute, today announced a Special Tribute to David O. Russell on Friday, November 8. AFI FEST will take place November 7 through 14 at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre, the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

For the fifth consecutive year, AFI FEST will offer free tickets to all screenings. Free individual tickets to AFI FEST screenings and galas will be available to the general public online and at the AFI FEST AT&T Box Office at The Hollywood & Highland Center starting on November 2. The American Film Institute honors excellence in film artistry annually through AFI FEST, which brings icons, emerging artists and audiences together to experience global cinema in the movie capital of the world.

SPECIAL TRIBUTE: AN EVENING WITH DAVID O. RUSSELL

A conversation with award-winning director David O. Russell, celebrating his acclaimed work and new film AMERICAN HUSTLE. The tribute presentation will feature scenes from Russell's body of work, including AMERICAN HUSTLE. Russell's last two films, the box office sensation SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (2012) and THE FIGHTER (2010), together garnered a total of 15 Academy Award® nominations including seven acting nominations. Russell's prior films include I HEART HUCKABEES (2004), THREE KINGS (1999), FLIRTING WITH DISASTER (1996) and SPANKING THE MONKEY (1994).

About David O. Russell

Three-time Academy-Award® nominee David O. Russell's AMERICAN HUSTLE, which he also co-wrote, reunites the director with four actors that he has directed to an Academy Award® nomination or win: Amy Adams, Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. The film, also starring Jeremy Renner, opens theatrically on December 13, 2013.

Russell wrote and directed SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (2012), a box office sensation that earned eight Academy Award® nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and acting nominations in all four categories – Best Actor for Bradley Cooper, Best Actress for Jennifer Lawrence, Best Supporting Actor for Robert DeNiro and Best Supporting Actress for Jackie Weaver.
