The Trashers: 30west Boards Cooper Raiff’s Next Feature

30WEST has attached to executive produce and finance the feature film The Trashers based on a true story profiled in Netflix's new docu-series "Untold." Cooper Raiff, whose directorial debut won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature, will direct.

Adam R. Perlman ("Billions") penned the screenplay, with current revisions by Raiff. The feature will shoot in the first half of 2022. Raiff is currently in production on PictureStart's Cha Cha Real Smooth which he wrote, directs, and co-stars in alongside Dakota Johnson and Leslie Mann and is co-writing the TV adaptation of Naoise Dolan's acclaimed debut novel "Exciting Times" which will star Phoebe Dynevor for Black Bear and Amazon Studios.


Austin Film Festival Reveals First Films and Award Honorees

Producers include Tom McNulty of MC2 Entertainment and Andrew Morrison of Yellow Bear Films, who also serve as executive producers on "The Trashers" episode of "Untold," titled "Crimes and Penalties."  Micah Green, Dan Steinman and Dan Friedkin will executive produce for 30WEST alongside Jon Wertheim and writer Adam R. Perlman. AJ Galante, on whose life-rights the story is based, serves as an associate producer.

The Trashers follows Jimmy Galante, a Danbury, Connecticut businessman who in 2004 bought the city's minor league hockey team and assigned his teenage son to run it. The team's unexpected rise to fame came to an abrupt end with Galante's arrest on 72 criminal charges.

30WEST's recent projects include Kevin Macdonald's The Mauritanian starring Jodie Foster, whose performance earned a 2020 Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress, Mindy Kaling's comedy Late Night and last summer's Netflix water-cooler sensation "Tiger King." The company is in post-production on Violence of Action starring Chris Pine, Kiefer Sutherland, and Ben Foster, and directed by Tarik Saleh, which STX will release wide this December.
