Brickell & Broadbridge International Distribute Crime Docuseries "The Con"

Abramorama announced Brickell & Broadbridge International ("BBI") has signed on to sell and distribute Season One of THE CON, a groundbreaking 5-part financial crime documentary series that provides an in-depth documentary investigation into the 2008 financial crisis.

BBI has also signed on to produce Season Two (TEASER FOR SEASON TWO HERE).

The deal was negotiated by Abramorama's COO Karol Martesko-Fenster on behalf of the series, with Joel Shapiro on behalf of BBI.  BBI's Head of Sales, Jason Burke Sutter, who previously worked as director of international distribution for 20th Century Fox, will handle worldwide sales. BBI's film The Vanished with Thomas Jane and Anne Heche is currently one of Netflix's most-watched films.

Country Recording Star Travis Tritt Releases New Album

Written and directed by Eric Vaughan, produced by Patrick Lovell and executive produced by Adam Bronfman, The Con explores who did it, why it happened and how our country went from "of, for and by the people," to "of, for and by the corporation."

It was a heist, decades in the making.  A scam that literally brought the United States and the global economy to the edge of disaster. The financial crises that exploded in September 2008 ruined lives in big cities and small towns across the United States. As houses were foreclosed upon and pensions stolen, American families were impacted, and retirement plans and savings accounts gutted. Lives were destroyed.

Executive Producer Adam Bronfman stated, "I believe that our nation is based on a noble idea, that our citizens will be protected, and that truth and justice is more precious than the power of greed. Sadly, the disease of corruption and the criminality that greed produces has become the basis of our nation's governance and its financial systems. Everyone should know how this happened, as we are all victims of this rot."

BBI's Jeff Elliott and Joel Shapiro jointly added "These are real people's lives, not just statistics.  The looming levels of individuals who cannot make their mortgage payments today due to the global pandemic make this story extremely scary and relevant."

A crime wave of fraud perpetrated and facilitated by the Wall Street/Washington elite led to an economic catastrophe in 2008.  But in order to cover up those crimes a whole new con had to be initiated. Through the personal stories of American homeowners from across the country we see the devastation caused by a system of banks whose fraudulent and shoddy documentation of millions of loans led to the defrauding of investors and American citizens alike.  Endless bailouts and endless bubbles has carved a path of wealth inequality, pain and despair leading straight to the violent unrest of 2020 that continues to this day. The Con Season Two shows how a corrupt system left undeterred has led to an era of crises threatening to destroy our country.

Filmmakers Eric Vaughan and Patrick Lovell commented, "We went into this expecting to create an in-depth feature documentary about the causes and effects of 2008, but once we started piecing the story together it became apparent that the story was far too big for one ninety-minute feature. The Con (Season One & Two) are a culmination of 6 years of work putting together the entire true story of the Great Financial Crisis and how the corrosive energy of the forces at work continue to imperil us to this very day."
