Explore the Taste of Korea at Korea Festival in Los Angeles

Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MCST) and Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will host Korea Festival in Los Angeles for three days starting from Friday, August 10th to promote Korea as a travel destination and attract U.S. visitors to Korea.

This 3-day festival is the first one to be held in the West Coast. It was organized to raise awareness of South Korea in the U.S. market and showcase the special and unique charms of Korean culture and tourism by reaching out to opinion leaders in tourism industry, media, and general consumers.

First day of Korea Festival in Los Angeles will begin at Alexandria Ballrooms in Downtown Los Angeles on August 10th. The event will include Hansik(Korean cuisine) Showcase, Seminars on Korean Tourism and MICE. During Hansik Showcase, Chef Kwon Woo-Joong of Kwon Sook Soo, a two Michelin-starred restaurant in Korea, will have cooking demonstrations to highlight Korea's fine dining.

On Saturday, August 11th, KTO will join KCON 2018 LA, the largest Korean culture convention and K-Pop festival in Los Angeles, at the Staples Center and Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).

KTO will set up a booth along with other travel agencies at LACC to promote themed tourism products such as Korean cuisine and Hallyu (Korean wave). KTO will also provide various on-site experiences including hanbok (traditional Korean dress), VR tour to Korea, calligraphy, and face painting. In addition, the Executive Producer of Raw Travel TV will share his experience in Korea during KCON 2018 LA pre-show.

"As the relations between the U.S. and North Korea improve, the number of U.S. tourists to Korea is expected to increase steadily due to heightened interest in themed tourism such as DMZ tour," said Minhong Min, executive vice president from Korea Tourism Organization. "We will develop marketing plans which will utilize Korean cuisine and Hallyu to attract one million U.S. tourists to meet our goal faster," he added.
