British Academy of Film and Television Arts Hail La La Land, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, and Meryl Streep (Complete List)

La La Land, Arrival, Nocturnal Animals, Manchester by the Sea and the overrated Meryl Streep (her 15th) all received nomination by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) for the upcoming awards presented in February 2017.

Leading the awards season tally is the very popular and beautifully done La La Land, with the endearing Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as determined artists in the sea of Los Angeles stars. The pair each earned Golden Globes for their performances and the film took home five others including Best Film (Musical) and Best Director for Damien Chazelle.

The Awards season categories now narrow, with no separation for comedy and musical, which will determine the strength of film and performances against the traditional dramatic winners.

With critics watching ever so closely for exclusions and snubs, BAFTA is being called out for the absence of Denzel Washington in Fences (in multiple categories), Martin Scorsese's Silence, Sunny Pawar, the child actor who endears us to the story of LION, Aussie Director Jocelyn Moorhouse for The Dressmaker with the incomparable Kate Winslet and Judy Davis, American Honey (Director and Individual performances) and the beloved Alan Rickman for one of his last roles, Lieutenant General Frank Benson in Eye in The Sky, the list of course could go on to include even DreamWorks Animation's TROLLS in the DISNEY heavy Animation category.

The British Academy Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) will present the awards in February 2017.
