AFI Conservatory Sweeps The 36th College Television Awards

AFI Conservatory Class alumni won five awards at the 36th College Television Awards on April 23, 2015 in Los Angeles, CA. Hosted by the Television Academy Foundation, this nationwide competition, which mirrors the Emmy Awards®, recognizes excellence in student-produced video and digital film work.

AFI Conservatory alumni, Melissa Hoppe, Henry Hughes, Michael Steiner and Trevor Worley topped the awards with wins in four different categories plus the Seymour Bricker Family Humanitarian Award.

Producer Melissa Hoppe's STEALTH, a heart-warming story of a brave, transgender tween, won for best Children's Program. Hoppe was also awarded the Seymour Bricker Humanitarian Scholarship, a $4000 cash award given to a first or second place College Television Award winner whose work best highlights a humanitarian concern.

Director Henry Hughes and producer Michael Steiner took home the Directing award and the Drama award respectively for DAY ONE, the story of a U.S. Army interpreter who is forced to deliver the child of an enemy bomb-maker on her first day in Afghanistan.

Producer Trevor Worley won the first place Comedy award for MARTIAN AMERICAN. The comedy follows a lonely martian as he starts a new life in Los Angeles, but finds his resolve shaken by adversity, culture shock and self-doubt.
