Electric Sky To Distribute The Story of Lord Montagu

LOS ANGELES (Aug. 6, 2014) – Electric Sky has acquired the international broadcasting rights for the highly anticipated documentary LORD MONTAGU, directed by first time director Luke Korem.  The film shares the fascinating inside story of one of Britain's most controversial and iconic aristocrats of the twentieth century – Lord Edward Montagu of Beaulieu.

Narrated by well-known U.K. actor Oliver Tobias, LORD MONTAGU is told through the eyes of his private family as well as an A-list of UK figures including the cousin of Queen Elizabeth II Prince Michael of Kent, the Duke of Devonshire, British Historian Sir Roy Strong, Pink Floyd's Nick Mason, and Three-Time Formula One Champion Sir Jackie Stewart. LORD MONTAGU will be officially launched at MIPCOM this October.  The announcement was made today by Electric Sky's Acquisitions Executive, Victoria Baynton-Williams.

"Lord Montagu delves into a seemingly privileged/glamorous lifestyle, offering a glimpse into the world of the aristocracy that so many viewers are curious about," said Baynton-Williams. The film handles Lord Montagu's story so beautifully, audiences will not fail to be absorbed by this intriguing tale of scandal, Englishness and achievement."

LORD MONTAGU tells the story of Lord Edward Montagu, who at age two became the youngest member in parliament and the sole heir to his family's 7,000-acre English estate.  He lived a very rich and privileged life.  However in 1954, Edward, then aged twenty-five, became England's most infamous aristocrat when he was arrested for homosexual offenses, which became the focus of a national scandal called "The Montagu Case."  After serving a year in prison, his once pristine reputation and promising career were all but ruined.  However, Montagu charged back into the spotlight by opening his castle doors to the public and turning his estate into one of England's greatest tourist attractions.  Montagu's innovation and showmanship made him a prominent national figure as the face of "The Stately Home Business," which led the way into a new era of the British aristocracy. This film features never-before-seen footage from the Montagu archives, interviews with his family, friends and fellow aristocrats, and personal details from Lord Montagu's own writings to tell the story of his unconventional life.

"Electric Sky seeks to represent factual content that is entertaining and has international appeal," said Baynton-Williams.   "At the core of every documentary is a human story, which is the key to engaging with audiences around the world."

"As seen in the huge popularity of shows like Downton Abbey, the general public remains fascinated and intrigued about the dramatic and enigmatic lives of the British aristocracy," said Korem.  "Lord Montagu aims to capture that interest."

LORD MONTAGU was executive produced by Graham Weston and produced by Russell Wayne Groves, Douglas Blush along with Korem under his production company Sixth Seal Productions.  Korem and Groves negotiated the deal themselves with Electric Sky.

Korem's Sixth Seal will be producing his next feature with Ralph Smyth Entertainment titled DEALT, a documentary about Richard Turner, who is one of the world's greatest card magicians . . . and he is completely blind.  DEALT is in production and slated for release in 2016

LORD MONTAGU premiered at London's prestigious BAFTA and then became very popular with audiences through the festival circuit.
