And Mrs Review – Charming RomCom Delivers Delightful Entertainment

And Mrs, from Vertigo Releasing, presents a charming romantic comedy, when a reluctant bride-to-be's fiancé drops dead, and she insists on going ahead with the wedding anyway, much to the bewilderment of her friends and family.

The film begins as our couple, Gemma, played by Aisling Bea, and Nathan, played by Colin Hanks, are just waking, she is a morning lark, full of pep as she is up and out on her morning exercise. He appears to be more leisurely in his morning routine.


Out Come the Wolves Review – A Graphic, Gripping, Suspense Thriller


As she returns home, Nathan is still sleeping, and she is busying herself with breakfast and flirtation, to which she doesn't even get a grunt, from under the covers. As she gets closer, she realizes something is wrong. She calls an ambulance, and as she watches them, she unable to comprehend the reality, and she asks, "Will he be alright?"

Along with her mom, Lorraine, played by Sinead Cusack, and dad, Derek, played by Peter Egan, the doctor, played by Divian Ladwa, is explaining that Nathan had a sudden aneurysm and died instantly. Nathan appears next to Gemma, and laughs, "Death by sock," she laughs, as if she can hear him also. Her parents and the doctor pause.

The shock of his death, which was days from their wedding, becomes the business of cancelling a wedding. Gemma is surrounded by her family, and best friend, Ruth, played by Susan Wokoma, who has taken charge of calling the guests and cancelling the wedding. Even as Gemma is in shock, she has been unable to reach his sister, Audrey, played by Billie Lourd.


Crescent City Review – Riveting, A Suspenseful Thriller


As they are at the airport, Nathan appears and we begin to understand, did not have an enviable childhood, and while he got away from those hurts, and changed his life, his sister, was still injured. As Audrey appears very pregnant, we begin to realize she is embracing life and lives full tilt, as if there is no tomorrow.

As Nathan continues to reappear to Gemma, she realizes she wants to go through with the wedding. Of course, when she explains that she is going through with the wedding, her support system believes that shock has turned to madness and they want to support her but are more concerned for her mental health, except for Audrey, who is all in on every zany hijinks, and has decided she will make this a cause.

They approach the Lord Chief Justice, played by Harriet Walter, who explains that permission to marry posthumously, while not illegal in London, must have not only her permission but the betrothed must prove the deceased intention was true, and she must have permission of his next of kin, and while zany Audrey, agrees to give permission, the Lord Chief Justice, explains that Gemma will need Nathan's mother's permission.  


You Gotta Believe Review – Uplifting, Family-Friendly Entertainment


Of course, with Audrey now determined to keep hope alive, she reaches out to social media and works the magic. Suddenly, the world is championing the cause.

And Mrs, is a madcap romantic comedy, that doesn't overlook the shock of sudden loss or how to cope with the emotions. The ensemble cast charms the audience, delivering the roller coaster of emotions. There is a charismatic connection throughout the film that translates to the screen. Each actor in the film delivers a delightful performance. This film connects.
