Russian series "8 Angry Women" Selected into Screening Competitions

The pilot of the acclaimed Russian series "Eight Angry Women" was selected for inclusion in the program of one of the largest foreign short content festivals - the British London International Web & Shorts Film Festival.

The series also became a participant in the Argentine web award WEB SERIES AWARDS (BUEIFF Web Series).

According to the plot of the series, eight completely different women (by age, marital status, character, status), burdened with everyday problems, go to a beauty salon not only to cheer up and increase self-esteem, but also to simply pour out their soul. They are gnawed by love affairs, family circumstances, social inequality, sexism, childbirth, domestic violence, loneliness. And it is this "psychologist" with scissors in the hands of women who entrust all their secrets.

Each episode is a confession of one of the heroines. Their stories do not seem to be similar to each other, but, as it turns out, these women have a lot in common.

The project is created using the verbatim technique - when real monologues are played out by actors. And, as the creators are sure, it is this technique that can really hook the viewer, because all these stories are alive, relevant and inspiring.

The project is directed by Alexander Sukharev , who directed the films Olympic Village, Watch My Love and Hostage. The co-director and scriptwriter was the actress Anastasia Gorodentseva , for whom this story is a debut.

"For me, the inclusion of the series "Eight Angry Women" in the programs of international shows is insanely good news, and considering that I am also acting as a producer for the first time, this is doubly pleasant. Of course, I would like the development of this project, so that later there would be "Eight Angry Women 2" and "3", as well as "Eight Angry Women in Cinema". Because it is a universal story that is close and will resonate with a huge number of viewers. I would like to tell it to more people, including those outside our country. And it's great, and even surprising, that the choice of these international film festivals, which selected us for their program, was not influenced by the political situation. After all, countries should not close themselves off from others, and it is through art, through culture that the most direct way to find mutual peaceful solutions goes , "said Alexander Sukharev , director of the project.

The WEB SERIES AWARDS (BUEIFF Web Series) is a continuation of the prestigious Argentine film festival Buenos Aires International Film Festival (BUEIFF). In four years, she managed to become one of the most significant in the world and received the status of Official IMDb Qualifying Competition. The award ceremony will take place on June 30, 2022.

The London International Web & Shorts Film Festival is considered one of the largest international short content festivals. The selection committee includes leading representatives of the film industry, working in a variety of fields. The festival has also become a platform for making deals for content production. The festival will take place on July 20, 2022.
