Cal Phil Takes Center Stage With During Festival On The Green At Santa Anita Race Track Saturday August 10

Arcadia – The San Gabriel Mountains will come alive with the glorious sounds of music when Cal Phil presents Rodgers, Hammerstein and Gershwin during Festival on the Green at Santa Anita Race Track, Saturday August 10, 2013.

Joining the world-class orchestra during this highly-anticipated concert, marking the fourth of the series, which is presented by Westfield Santa Anita, are “back by popular demand” special guests, Broadway sensations Kim Huber and James Barbour as well as piano virtuoso Bryan Pezzone.

The evening begins with Gershwin’s American In Paris, followed by his Jazz Age masterpiece Rhapsody In Blue and continues with some of the most popular moments from such Rodgers and Hammerstein smash shows as Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, South Pacific and Carousel.

“Cal Phil is thrilled to present the wonderful works of Rodgers, Hammerstein and Gershwin and to perform alongside such esteemed and in-demand special guests as Broadway’s own Kim Huber and James Barbour as well as the mesmerizing Bryan Pezzone on piano,” said Maestro Victor Vener who is also responsible for creating the orchestra’s popular programming.  “The music will fill not only the hills – or in this case - beautiful mountains but also the souls of everyone in attendance.”

Gates open at 5:30pm for pre-concert dining, plus live jazz, a host of pre-concert family friendly activities including pony rides, face painting and a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo.   Gourmet dining options include a full bar. Concerts begin at 7:30pm.  Table and lawn seating on the plush green grass of Santa Anita Race Track's infield concert lawn are available, complete with the area’s best unobstructed view of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.

For those who prefer an indoor concert experience, Cal Phil performs Sunday matinees of the same concert at the incomparable Walt Disney Concert Hall.  Celebrating its 10th anniversary at Los Angeles' premier music venue, Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall Sunday performances start at 2:00pm, with the popular pre-concert Talks with the Maestro beginning at 1:00pm.
