Harmony Montgomery, Missing Since 2019, Declared Dead; Remains Not Found

Harmony Montgomery, 5, of Manchester, New Hampshire, whose 2019 disappearance was not reported until 2021, has been declared dead, the victim of a homicide, in an announcement by New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella.

"All of the (investigative) efforts have led us to conclude that Harmony Montgomery was murdered in Manchester in early December of 2019," he said. "At this point, while Harmony's remains have not yet been located, we do have multiple sources of investigative information, including just recently confirmed biological evidence that have led us to this difficult and tragic conclusion," reported WCVB.com.

Harmony, who had been living with her father, Adam Montgomery and her stepmother, Kayla Montgomery, was allegedly struck in the face by her father in June of 2019, and appeared to have disappeared sometime between November 28, 2019, and December 10, 2019.

It would be two years before police would learn of the child's disappearance.

When questioned the couple stated that Harmony was visiting her mother in Crystal Sorey, in Massachusetts. Sorey reported the child missing in November 2021. She stated the last time she saw her daughter was Easter 2019 by video chat.

The shocking revelations behind the murder of Harmony Montgomery is more than simply another child murdered, it is the breakdown of the entire system, from school officials, social services workers and even the New Hampshire Department of Education, that allowed this to go unnoticed for more than two years.

Once the mother reported the child missing, and she was not located at the residence of her father, and official investigation into her disappearance began. A multi-agency task force initiated an investigation and served a search warrant on the former resident of the child's father. They removed a refrigerator and other pieces of evidence.

Adam Montgomery has been indicated on a felony assault charge stemming from physical abuse of Harmony reported in 2019 and unrelated weapons charges. His estranged wife Kayla Montgomery has been indicated on lysing to a federal grand jury.

Harmony's remains have not been found, New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella said.
