Cal Phil Concludes 2013 Summer Season On A High Note With Les Miz And Bernstein

Arcadia – Another memorable Cal Phil summer ends with a spectacular season finale, Les Miz and Bernstein, during Festival on the Green at Santa Anita Race Track on Saturday August 24, 2013. 

The fifth concert of the series presented by Westfield Santa Anita, Les Miz and Bernstein features special guest singers Randal Keith and Melissa Lyons Caldretti, stars of Les Miserables on Broadway and the National Tour.  The Cal Phil Chorale also joins the acclaimed orchestra and special guests in  an inspired selection of highlights from Les Miz along with songs from Leonard Bernstein’s Broadway classics Candide and Wonderful Town.

The highly-anticipated concert also includes the stirring orchestral Symphonic Dances From West Side Story.

“It has been another sensational summer of Cal Phil concerts and we are looking forward to an incredible season finale with Les Miz and Bernstein,” said Maestro Victor Vener.  “It will be memorable and leaving people wanting more.”

And more there will be as Cal Phil announces its summer 2014 schedule and exciting program line-up.  Festival on the Green audience members who renew their subscriptions for next year or purchase new ones during the finale, will enter a drawing to win $500 off with the winner announced during the concert.

Gates open at 5:30pm for pre-concert dining, plus live jazz, a host of pre-concert family friendly activities including pony rides, face painting and a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo.   Gourmet dining options include a full bar. Concerts begin at 7:30pm.  Table and lawn seating on the plush green grass of Santa Anita Race Track's infield concert lawn are available, complete with the area’s best unobstructed view of the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains.

For those who prefer an indoor concert experience, Cal Phil performs Sunday matinees of the same concert at the incomparable Walt Disney Concert Hall.  Celebrating its 10th anniversary at Los Angeles' premier music venue, Cal Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall Sunday performances start at 2:00pm, with the popular pre-concert Talks with the Maestro beginning at 1:00pm.
