The President's job approval rating, according to The New York Times for the period ending May 30, 2026, of those polled who approve of his effectiveness as President remained consistent at 38% and those who disapprove of his effectiveness as president has decreased by 1% to 58%. A slight 3% of the population polled have no opinion. Ratings are calculated weekly.

Trump Backtracks on Peace Deal

President Trump, who has walked back statements over the past week which indicated a peace deal with Iran was imminent, has transition to a stalling tactic indicating that even with skyrocketing gas prices, and the upcoming midterm elections, and the overwhelming antiwar sentiment, the war will end when all objectives as he determines are met.

The White House has explained the war in Iran has several phases, and Operation Epic Fury, the initial wave of the attack against Iran, in partnership with Israel, has ended according to Secretary of State Marco rubio, who explains the initial 38 day attack, which began February 1, 2026

"The operation is over," Rubio said at a White House briefing. "We're done with that stage of it." In its place, Rubio clarified, the United States has shifted to a "defensive" posture focused more on restoring commercial passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow waterway that carries a significant share of the world's energy supplies and has effectively been choked off since the conflict intensified," Time Magazine reported.

For the American public, the only consideration is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which even if it were open today, it would be approximately six months before relief is seen at the gas pumps.

Initially, Operation Epic Fury was intended to topple the hardline Iranian regime, who has been slaughtering tens of thousands of citizens in the street, and even with the deaths of the regime's leader, the hardline government is still in place.

A Full Scale Operation

Without question the United States military is the most advanced and highly trained military in the world, and even with that the raw determination of the Iranian military and its knowledge of the territory, and partners in the region who are equally dedicated to the downfall of the Great Satan American, make a full scale invasion and long and drawn out military engagement, next to impossible to win.

"We've been doing this for a few months. Vietnam lasted 19 years. Korea lasted eight years. Afghanistan lasted many years," Trump said when asked about the time frame for ending the war. Earlier in the meeting, he said, "They were all many, many years. And we're into it for a few months," The Washington Post reported.

For the United States to enter an all-out military invasion, including the use of ground troops position the U.S. to repeat a catastrophic failure witnessed by the Russian when they attacked Afghanistan, in 1979, and ten years later, in 1989, left the nation defeated.

A ground war, places thousands of ground soldiers at risk, fighting like the Vietnam War in South East Asia, in an unknown terrain, against an enemy who is dedicated to only one outcome the defeat of the enemy.

An Iranian ground war would be akin to the 1945 Battle of the Bulge, and according to Arlington National Cemetery website, "Approximately 19,000 U.S. soldiers were killed in action during the Battle of the Bulge, with official Army counts often citing 19,246 dead. The brutal six-week winter campaign in the Ardennes forest resulted in a total of over 80,000 American casualties, including roughly 47,500 wounded and 23,000 captured or missing."

The financial cost of an Iranian ground war would be in the hundreds of billions, and the ultimate cost, the sacrifice of American lives, would come in at too high a cost for the American people to support. The brutalities of the regime would result in captured American soldiers terrorized and displayed in the streets of Tehran, while the ultimate objectives, at the wars end would not be achieved.

A Modern War

If dismantling the Iranian nuclear program is the ultimate goal, utilizing modern warfare, which for a White House built on optics is emasculating, is the safest, surest, and most effective method to derail, and deconstruct Iran's nuclear program.

The Israeli government has demonstrated its advanced technology abilities, even in this most current war, by rigging the cell phones, and then exploding them, and with that marking all members of Hamas with injury. And they have used the Zero Day technology, code word "Olympic Games," to use a computer virus to destroy the Iranian nuclear arsenal. No American lives were lost in the achievement of the goal.

"Stuxnet is a highly sophisticated, malicious computer worm widely considered the world's first digital weapon. First uncovered in 2010, it was engineered to physically sabotage industrial control systems (SCADA) by attacking specific programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities," Wikipedia stated.

Are We There Yet?

The American public is not alone in its desire to end the war in Iran. As the Hormuz Strait, which 95% of the world's oil passes through on shipping tankers, remains for all intents and purposes closed for business, markets throughout the world are experiencing an increase in the cost of goods, and the consumer will experience even higher inflation as prices from gasoline to consumer goods, all of which need to be transported, will increase as the price of fuel continues to rise.

"Nearly a week ago, Secretary of State Marco Rubio had predicted there could be "good news" within hours, only for Trump to say he wouldn't "rush into" an agreement. Trump said Friday that Iran must agree to never have a nuclear weapon, that the Strait of Hormuz be reopened for "unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions," and that any mines in the waterway are "destroyed,"' NBCnews.com reported.

Kenya Blocks US Hospital

A Kenyan Court has blocked plans by the Trump Administration to build a field hospital as a first stop for Americans suffering or exposed to the deadly Ebola virus, which has reached more than 1000 patient, and is centered in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The field hospital was supposed to begin operating on the day the Kenyan court ruled against the U.S.

"The Congolese Health Ministry declared the outbreak on May 15, and it has already ballooned into the third largest on record. Two weeks later, the international response is being outpaced by the virus, and there is almost nothing to slow it down. Aid groups warn that without urgent intervention, this could be the world's deadliest Ebola outbreak ever," The New York Times reported.

Unlike the horror stories, Ebola symptoms are routine and mimic cold and flu symptoms and include cold, fever, fatigue, and after 21 days become more severe progressing to a breakdown of internal organs and unexplained bleeding, loss of appetite. The symptoms are so common that hiccups and red eyes can be an indication of the initial stages or the "dry" stages of the virus.

Currently, only two nations, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda are experiencing an outbreak. However, the African CDC indicate that up to ten neighboring nations are potentially at risk.

Coronavirus Total

At the order of the President of the United States, the U.S. no longer recognizes the value of The World Health Organization. The CDC has recommended every person from age six months, including senior citizens should receive at least one shot of an updated COVID-19 vaccine, annually.  The death toll from Covid-19 has dramatically decreased, as has transmission of the virus. Even as confirmed new cases continue each week, fewer are dying from each new variants.

For the 7 days ending May 30, 2026, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases reported by the World Health Organization increased by 4,168 to 779,221,055. The total worldwide death toll did not increase over the past seven days increased by 148 to 7,115,086 deaths. The United States has stopped providing Covid data to the World Health Organization. (Data updated May 3, 2026, from the World Health Organization).

ICE Agent Arrested in Minnesota

Christian Castro, 52, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officer, accused of shooting a Venezuela immigrant and lying about has been arrested.

"On the evening of the shooting, Mr. Castro had a brief scuffle with Alfredo Aljorna, a Venezuelan migrant whom he had been trying to arrest after a car chase, according to court documents. After Mr. Aljorna broke free and raced into his Minneapolis home, Mr. Castro fired a bullet into the front door, wounding Mr. Aljorna's roommate, Mr. Julio C. Sosa-Celis, in the leg, according to state prosecutors,   The New York Times reported.

As the agent was arrested in Texas, and the shooting occurred in Minnesota, the case has the potential to explode into a political drama, as Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a republican, and Minnesota governor Tim Walz, a democrat, will need to agree to extradition. As Abbott is a Trump supporter and the Walz, is not, the possibility that any extradition will need to go before the Supreme Court.

Castro remains in custody in Texas.

To date, no additional information has been released on the determination of the murders of Renee Goode, 37, and Alex Pretti, 37, both of whom were murdered on the streets of Minneapolis during the ICE crackdown earlier this year.

Goode, who was sustained multiple gunshot wounds at point blank range, in her vehicle as she was attempting to slowly maneuver past a group of agents, was a veteran, mother of three, and an acclaimed poet.

Pretti, an intensive care nurse at the VA hospital, was shot, while he was on the ground in a fetal position, at least ten times in the back, after helping a woman to the sidewalk, who has slipped in the snow. He was surrounded, slammed to the ground, his weapon, of which was registered and was holstered, triggered the agents to unload in rapid succession their Glock pistols into Pretti's back.

While the federal immigration agent responsible for Goode's murder has not been named, "the two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa, 43, and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez, 35," ProPublica reported.

Blue Origin Rocket Explodes

Blue Origin Enterprises, owned and operated by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, experienced a set back this week, as its New Glenn rocket burst into a fireball on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

'"We experienced an anomaly during today's hotfire test," the company said in a post on X. "All personnel have been accounted for. We will provide updates as we learn more." Footage showed what appeared to be its engines firing and then a massive fireball that enveloped the launch site at Cape Canaveral, Florida, sending a cloud of flames and soot skyward," The Washington Post reported.

The set-back occurred after Bezos was awarded a billion dollar NASA contract to transport moon rovers by 2028. The launch was intended to position a satellite in low orbit, one of an expected 48 low orbit satellite Bezos's intend to launch to "the retailer's broadband capabilities."

The New Glenn rocket was named after astronaut John Glenn, the first man to land and walk on the moon.
