The Bibi Files Review – Interesting, Journalistic Exposé, Includes October 7 Footage

The Bibi Files, from Jolt, presents the corruption case against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, using leaked police interrogation tapes from Netanyahu's inner circle, news footage, experts, and includes survivor accounts from the October 7 massacre.

The documentary begins with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sitting in his office, with a map of the region behind him, and two police interrogators asking him prepared questions, which are leading nowhere, as he remains clear that he doesn't remember the exact details of the incidents.

The Room Next Door Review – Captivating and Resonating, A Must See

He provides some vague responses of accepting personal gifts and clarifies the statement that to accept these small gifts by acquaintance is not a crime. He denies any knowledge of allegations of quid pro quo, or other illegal efforts to coerce him or anything that could be considered bribery.

Throughout we meet the most critical people in Netanyahu's life and rise, from his brother Yonatan, f who was the only casualty in the Entebbe raid in 1976. This brought Netanyahu into the spotlight and facilitated his rise to political power.

The interrogations are interrupted by experts, and others including support staff to many of the larger figures, like film producer Arnon Milchan, who was interrogated over a visa issue, and allegedly Netanyahu spoke with then Secretary of State John Kerry to ensure Milchan's Visa remained in place.

Nightbitch Review – Provocative, Challenging, Reality Meets Escapism

Honestly, The Bibi Files are not particularly revealing, exceptional, or criminally scandalous. Either people are accustomed to political scandal, with presidents, former presidents, and every level of elected officials betraying the peoples trust, and quite possibly the trial of president-elect and convicted felon Donald Trump has created a pall over the shock value of the allegations, or we, the global community, have a collective PTSD when it comes to scandal and we are just not shocked anymore.

The opinions of journalists are accurate, the longer one stays in power the more likely the belief of entitlement rules the decision-making process, and the theme of absolute power corrupts absolutely, is worldwide.

The documentary has high points before the last third when it moves into the October 7, massacre, including Netanyahu's election night, and the introduction of his spokesperson, the interrogation of his wife, who clearly presents a united front, and explains how the world views Netanyahu, "in American he is a king," and his son, Yuri, who appears a typical nepo son born into entitlement, with no respect, who Netanyahu has said could carry on after him. The idea of a political dynasty has outraged many of the Israel government watchdogs.

Nothing outraged Israelis, government watchdogs, and members of Knesset more than October 7, 2023. Which is presented in the last third of the documentary. The first-person footage is shocking, even in the limited doses, the hatred between these two people groups is so rooted that even the animals in the Kibbutz were gunned down.

September 5 Review – A Must See, One of the Year’s Best Films, Riveting

I noticed in this footage, the Israeli seemed complacent to what was going on around them. In our video streaming, Snapchat, Instagram world, the sight of truckload of Palestinians, with machine guns, was of more interest than finding safety. Once the reality of the intent sank in, chaos ensued, and it was too late. With such a thin line separating these two nations, and their intent of mutual annihilation, the reaction time of the youth was dulled by a belief of dominance.

Videos of the Palestinians setting homes on fire, with people inside, and the aftermath of gutted, and burned homes. The region of the Negev, which is in the south and near the Palestinian and Israeli, border is devoid of services, the region seemed to have settlements but no military outposts that could immediately respond.

As the survivor of the Kibbutz massacre explains, at 20, nearly everyone she has known in her life is dead, and she speaks as a critic of Netanyahu's response to the massacre. Those taken hostage, are also critical of Netanyahu approach by having his wife, Sara, act as the mediator between the families of the remaining hostages. They fear speaking out against the lack of response by Netanyahu's government for fear he will do nothing in retaliation.

A Real Pain Review – Excellent Story Driven Performances, Funny, Entertaining

The Bibi Files also presents Netanyahu's answer to the Palestinian problem, and while his words are "Total Victory," and no outright edicts are presented, he has brought into the political fold, two fringe political extremists who are determined to take back the West Bank and reduce any foothold the Palestinians have in Gaza.

The Bibi Files is a journalistic exposé based on unseen leaked footage of police interrogations of the politician as well as his wife Sara and son Yair. The film explores the corruption cases that resulted in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's indictment on breach of trust, bribery, and fraud in 2019. Many Israelis believe that Netanyahu's attempts to delay his trial are key to understanding his current policies regarding war and the return of Israeli hostages.

The last screen explains over 41,000 Palestinians and 1,500 Israelis have been killed since October 7, 2023. 251 Israeli and foreign hostages were initially taken, 117 have been released, 95 hostages remain in Gaza, 35 or whom have been declared dead.

The Bibi Files opens, Friday, November 15, 2024, in select cities. Check local listings.
